MCMS Non-members / Unfinancial Clarification.
Clarification on previous post: “Unfinancial Shooters Shooting ACTA Events”
Following our recent post, we would like to clarify the correct process for recording participation in My Clubs My Scores (MCMS) at ACTA events, and the distinction between non-members and unfinancial members.
For ACTA events, all participants who go out onto the lanes as part of the competition must be recorded in MCMS. This minimises administrative overhead for clubs and ensures there is a complete, accurate record of the day’s participation. It also ensures individual participants can access their participation history via the MCMS app and supports ACTA’s ability to review organisation-wide participation statistics.
Where a participant is not eligible to compete for prizes (due to their ACTA membership category or because they are a non-member), they must be entered as Clays Only. Clays Only participants are not eligible for prizes (this is automated by MCMS), however their scores are still recorded and will be used for grading purposes (if appropriate) as well as included in the shooter’s participation history.
To clarify, a non-member is not, and has never been, a member of ACTA. They may be a member of another shooting organisation or a new shooter. A non-member may be permitted by a club to shoot, subject to the club’s own policies, ACTA rules and any relevant state firearms/licensing requirements. Clubs must continue to ensure non-members are handled in accordance with local legislative requirements (for example visitor registers and any limits on how often a non-member may shoot at a club).
An unfinancial member is different. This is an ACTA member who is not currently financial. In accordance with the ACTA rules, an unfinancial member must not be permitted to shoot in ACTA events, whether for prizes or as Clays Only. However, where a member can provide proof of payment (for example, payment made but not yet processed through the ACTA membership system), club management may allow them to participate (including for prizes) while the membership status update flows through the club and ACTA’s systems and then on to MCMS.
Clubs should be aware that knowingly allowing an unfinancial member to participate in an ACTA event (whether as Clays Only or for prizes) may result in ACTA disciplinary action, which can include financial consequences (for example recovery of applicable membership fees).
Finally, to avoid confusion, we confirm that the prior statement suggesting non-members should not be entered into MCMS was inaccurate. Consistent use of MCMS for all participants is important for accurate grading, club records and participation reporting.
