Want to build a stronger core that does more than just look good?

Landmine rotations are a great exercise for improving core stability, posture, and rotational strength. By resisting movement through your torso you’re teaching your core to stabilise your spine and transfer force efficiently through your body.

✅ Improves core strength and stability
✅ Helps support better posture
✅ Builds rotational control for everyday movement and sport
✅ Challenges your shoulders, hips, and core to work together

Remember a strong core isn’t just about abs, it’s about creating a stable foundation for everything you do.

Give these a try in your next session! 💪

One month into our Takeoff Tips series, we thought we’d share some of the BTS moments along the way.

From the beginning, our goal with social media has never been to become influencers. Our focus is, and always will be, educating, coaching, and helping people move better. Through these videos, we aim to provide practical training tips, demonstrate correct exercise technique, and share strategies that help our clients and fellow gym members achieve their goals more effectively.

While we’re passionate about delivering professional coaching, achieving results, and creating a positive training environment, we also believe fitness should be enjoyable. Between the hard work, challenging sessions, and pursuit of goals, there’s always room for a laugh.

So here’s a look behind the scenes of the Takeoff Tips series, showing that while we take our coaching seriously, we don’t take ourselves too seriously. We love what we do, we love helping people succeed, and we enjoy having some fun along the way. 🚀💪😄

Andrew and Marcia have been training with us for many years, and throughout that time their consistency, dedication, and willingness to keep improving have been incredible to watch.

Together, they have achieved significant improvements in strength, movement quality, confidence, and overall function, all while successfully navigating and rehabilitating through multiple major health procedures.

Throughout their journey, Marcia has undergone two knee replacements, while Andrew has worked through a knee replacement and shoulder reconstruction.

What stands out most is their commitment to continuing to move better, get stronger, and improve their quality of life regardless of the challenges placed in front of them.

At Take Off Health & Fitness, we don’t just specialise in youth athletes or general strength and conditioning. We work with individuals of all ages and abilities, helping people move better, build confidence, recover from injury or surgery, and continue doing the things they love for as long as possible.

We’re incredibly proud of both Andrew and Marcia and everything they’ve achieved🚀

If you’ve ever jumped on an erg and had no idea how to actually set up intervals properly… this is for you

Instead of timing everything manually on your phone or watch, the monitor can do all the work for you: work time, rest time, rounds, countdowns, everything.

We often get asked what the AxIT system is actually used for, and more importantly, how we use the results to improve training.

The AxIT system gives objective data on strength, power, imbalances, and movement quality instead of just guessing based on how someone feels or moves.

Using the force plates, pull it and push it attachments, we can measure things like:

• Peak force (maximum strength output)
• Rate of force development (explosive power)
• Left vs right asymmetries
• Strength scores compared to age & gender averages
• Dynamic Strength Index (DSI) to determine whether someone needs more max strength or explosive training

So what do we actually do with the data?

✅ Identify weak links and imbalances
✅ Build more targeted rehab and training programs
✅ Track progress over time with re-testing
✅ Reduce injury and re-injury risk
✅ Help athletes and clients return to sport/work safely
✅ Show measurable progress with real numbers

Instead of: “I feel stronger”

We can say: “Your left leg force output improved by 18% in 6 weeks.”

The goal is simple, train smarter using real data, not guesswork.

If you’ve ever wanted a deeper understanding of your strength, performance, or recovery, send us a message to learn more about AxIT testing 🚀

With my client Paige one of the biggest things we’ve focused on isn’t just performance — it’s creating purpose in training again. After spending time unsure of what goal to chase next after completed an half marathon, we’ve shifted the focus toward building strength, confidence, and consistency in the gym.

In just 2 weeks, she’s gone from not back squatting at all to hitting 50kg!!

This is exactly why having structure and a clear direction matters. Keeping her excited to keep building strength while preparing for the possibility of another half marathon ahead 🏃🏽‍♀️🏋🏽‍♀️

The sled is one of the most effective exercises for building lower body strength, power, conditioning, and work capacity, yet so many people avoid using it because it can be frustrating and time-consuming to set up and unload. We also constantly see sleds left loaded with plates after use due to how awkward bumper plates can be to remove.

A simple solution we use with clients is placing a small fractional plate in between the larger bumper plates. This creates a small gap, making the plates significantly easier to grip and unload once the exercise is finished. Simple adjustments like this improve efficiency, save time, and make training flow much smoother🚀

How to set it up:
1️⃣ Load your first bumper plate onto the sled
2️⃣ Place a small fractional plate (0.5kg–2.5kg)
3️⃣ Add your next bumper plate over the top
4️⃣ Repeat if needed depending on the load
5️⃣ Once finished, the small gap allows the bumper plates to slide off far easier

Small training hacks like this can make a huge difference to your training and gym efficiency and help keep the training space cleaner and more organised for everyone.

Stay tuned for next week’s Take Off Tips 🚀

If your RDL feels more like a back workout than a glute & hamstring builder… you’re probably making one of these mistakes 👇

1 - Squatting down instead of hinging at the hips
2 - Locking your knees out and frying your hamstrings
3 - Rounding your lower back and asking for pain
4 - Keeping your shoulders rounded instead of opening up ur chest

RDLs aren’t about touching the floor — they’re about loading the posterior chain correctly 💪
