What an incredible afternoon at Viewbank Tennis Club! Our official Australian Open 1 Point Slam Community Event powered by Haier delivered every bit of drama, excitement and tension we hoped for — and then some!

And the champion? None other than our very own SUNNY VO! 🏆🎉

In a gripping final that had everyone on the edge of their seats, Sunny narrowly defeated fellow Viewbank member Long Dam to claim the title and take one giant step closer to Rod Laver Arena and the $1 million prize!

What a match. What a moment. What an afternoon. 🔥

Congratulations Sunny — you represented Viewbank brilliantly and the whole club is behind you as you continue your Australian Open 2027 journey!

And massive credit to Long Dam for an outstanding run to the final — you made us all proud too! 💛🖤

We are incredibly excited to announce that Viewbank Tennis Club is hosting an official Australian Open 1 Point Slam Community Event, powered by Haier!

This is your chance to go from our courts all the way to Rod Laver Arena. One point decides everything!

HOW IT WORKS:

By registering for our event, you enter the draw for a chance to compete for a spot at the State Championships. Win your point, move on to the next round!

Win our event and you progress to the State Championships, one step closer to Rod Laver Arena and the $1 million prize.

The last man and last woman standing at the State Championships will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Australian Open Opening Week to compete in the national qualifiers. From there, 4 men and 4 women State Champions will earn a place in the 1 Point Slam Main Draw.

🎉 WHAT A NIGHT — THANK YOU VIEWBANK!

Last Friday's Kitchen & BBQ Celebration Night was everything we hoped for and MORE, and it's all thanks to our incredible community!

THE NUMBERS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES:
👥 100+ members and guests joined us on the night
🎾 60 players registered for the North East Link One Point Slam
🍔 Our brand new BBQ running at full capacity all night long
🔥 Outdoor heaters keeping everyone warm and comfortable

The atmosphere was absolutely electric from start to finish. Our speakers were fantastic, the food was incredible, and the One Point Slam had everyone buzzing on and off the courts!

But what really stood out on the night was hearing so many members reflecting on the incredible transformation Viewbank Tennis Club has seen over the last 24 months. From our facilities to our membership, our competition success to our community, this club is thriving and Friday night was the perfect celebration of that journey. 🏆

A huge thank you to our incredible guests and supporters:

🎾 A VERY SPECIAL MILESTONE — THANK YOU, DIETMAR! 💛🖤
At around 9:30pm on Tuesday 12 May 2026, Dietmar Mueller shook hands at the end of his very last set of competition tennis. And what a way to finish — at 78 years young, the oldest on the court by more than a few years, Dietmar still came out on top with wins in 2 out of 3 sets for his Vets 6 side! 👏
The team topped the table for Autumn 2026 — not quite a fairy tale grand final ending, but an incredible season all the same.

Dietmar's contribution to Viewbank Tennis Club goes far beyond the court. He joined the Club in the 1980s and is a proud Life Member. From 2001 to 2013 he served as Club President, working tirelessly on the committee to oversee major improvements to our facilities and putting in countless hours on working bees to keep the Club looking its best.
If you love what our Club looks like today — a big part of that is thanks to Dietmar. 🙏
In a wonderful piece of symmetry, Dietmar was awarded Banyule's Volunteer of the Year in 2011 for his work at the Club — and this year, that same honour was won by fellow Vets 6 member Damian Mullens. Two legends, one table. 🏆

The good news? Dietmar isn't going anywhere! He'll still be seen around for social hits and Twilight tennis — so that good humour and solid forehand will be on show for many more years to come! 😄🎾
Thank you for everything, Dietmar. Viewbank Tennis Club is what it is today because of people like you. 💛🖤

Viewbank Tennis Club is thrilled to announce the completion of our brand new kitchen and outdoor BBQ area — and it looks absolutely AMAZING! 🔥

A huge thank you to the North East Link Community Grant for making this transformation possible, and a very special acknowledgement to Hon Kate Thwaites MP, Member for Jagajaga, who supported us in obtaining the grant for our brand new electric BBQs. We are incredibly grateful for your support of our club and our community! 🙏
