while Geoff was catching lives Pete decided to drop a rig to the bottom , 70 fathoms (420 ft deep) , after 2 drops and a lot of winding. Up came this huge leather jacket and a nice tiger flathead , while Geoff filled the bait tank with slimies ,

Bloody tuff the couple days after! Sunday Pete had a full load aboard the Hulk , Macca's everywhere Younger brother Dean ,myself, my eldest son Scott and my youngest son Trent, The Plan head for the banks , look for Kingfish chase a Tuna come home easy right!

Well we met the boys at ramp 6am (was watching video feed at 4.30am from home and boats were launching then)
1.5 to 2hrs trip down depending on how rough the water is remembering 3 of us are 60+ so we feel it a lot more nowadays, Arrived at 8.15am at banks we checked a few spots for Kingfish but not this time . now there was already a few boats out there hooking up , we give them a wide berth with 5 rods in and the search begins , No birds , there was a few tell tale signs but we'll keep them to ourselves, 1st strike 3 rods go off mine,Scott's,and trent's , trent lost his at boat , Scott's gaffed in box mine on lighter line took a few mins but was gaffed in box , score 1 me 1 scott 1 dropped.

Lines back in , we moved away from the crowd and again 3 rods go off , this time mine, scott'sand Dean's and again mine is tagged n released only 8kg ,Scott's in box and again the boys on port side failed with Dean loosing his , 2me2scott2 dropped , lures back in , further away from crowd , while boiling the kettle for coffee n biccies , Pete was happy to drive and do the coffee and be our decky , Peter noticed a good sign and as he said he we go 5 rods go off , mayhem onboard with our big crew , unfortunately Scott's went across back of boat snap gorn , mine tagged , trent's in box , This went on for quite awhile , our last 5 way took the cake , while I got my last tagged fish in and Scott got his 3rd and released , trents in and released , Dean was waiting while we cleared the deck , Then his Reel started , only too have a tugawar with a hungry shark , while the boys and I sat back Dean n Pete chased it until it completed it bite , and Dean wound in what was left , The deck clears lures removed and bottom bounce gear set up we headed home , watching sounder for a feed , and sure enough Pete does a few donuts, found something , fresh slimie for bait and a few good nannies came up , we got a feed for all and headed for the 2hr trip back to Victor , A great day , A big thanks to Pete. Thanks to Dean for picking me up and paying fuel bill.

Here's hoping that our cray season off Victor is as good as last year ,Time to check pots , and to try and get this greenhorn his 1'st snapper, Ron loved fishin but was restricted on time , So the moons aligned and we headed out .Sm Swell was rolling thru , A very slow tide again. The trip down to pots was pretty quick. All 4 with all 000's but no big surprise at this time , water temp a nice 19.4 , a bit of life mid water as we headed out. Sounded about a bit , a few marking showing up so put minkoda down , frizz n Rod on there side and me on mine . For a greenhorn Ron was on fire. His 1st snapper came up undersized ,released , his 2nd snapper came up 1.7kg and a very happy man , let's celebrate, coffee and lamintons today , 2 mouth fulls of coffee and my Rod bounced about , up came a snapper just legal so I let it go ,1hr passes and we had 3 snapper in esky 3 legal one's released and 2 under size released . Then Ron winds up a nice 43cm whiting. I think releasing the little one's may have taken the school away. Only rockies and spikey gurnards came up , laminations n coffee finished we made a move , 2km marks on bottom life mid water. Looks a bit fishy , Rods in 2 more snapper another to Ron and frizzer , and the my real starts to tic tic ticking away the thought I was onto another 6kg snapper , but know this thing heads under boat wraps around frizzers line then frizz starts with capt ray ray at it again ๐Ÿ˜‚ when it came up it was A 1st for me a 1.3m school shark ( tope) est 12 to 13kg , released , was hoping for a gummy. more ling came up and the 15min warning was announced, I did bring up a 700gram nannigui. home time.
5 snapper kept
3 snapper legal released
2 snapper sm released
1 whiting
1 Nannigui
1 school shark 1.3m
No crays maybe tomorrow.(Tuesday)
No swim for frizzer at Ramp today

Weather windows opened up . Forecast of rain didn't dampin us at all , Frizz had taken his ๐Ÿฆž๐Ÿฆž๐Ÿฆžpots out and dropped in old spots on thurs while mapping the bottom for new areas to try. A few repairs to my pots and loaded up we headed out , water was very inviting. No swell , a very slow tide, low early and high very late afternoon ,๐Ÿงญ๐Ÿ›ฅ .
We went and dropped my pots in a new area , give it a try but not convinced it will produce , but anyway , Pulled frizzers pots up for nothing so moved them a bit . Instead of coming in we thought we'd try for a gummy or sting ray for game club points , we headed SW , travelling at 45km/h didn't take that long to reach a area we caught them before. Deployed minkoda and tryed a few spots , rock cod,Ling, boiled lollies, ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿกand a couple baby snapper were coming up , So moved a km south deployed and lines in , this time using my 6kg line a dropped a salmon trout to the bottom hoping for a gummy or a ray to play with much to petes head shaking , He lowered his rods down with sm bites , while i dropped mine over with my main rod straight down and my mono floating a ST out the back . While pouring the coffee frizz winds in a keeper snapper at 1.5kg nice I said , then he starts " thats fish of the day he repeated ( we have a boat comp on every trip ) , not to be out done my rod bounces to life , s**t frizz this is a GOOD fish , Frizz grab the bloody net , ๐Ÿ˜€ 6.5kg snapper , rebaited and back down it went. I started to wind in my floater when it started to run , Oh dear frizz we could be here awhile thinking I'm onto a good gummy , 45mins later "FRIZZ" grab the bloody net I've got a bigger snapper , unfortunatly this 1 had swallowed the hook and was never going to swim away . That's it we said , so while we cleaned up my bottom bouncer started it again , This time it was a slow retrieve as we wanted to release this 1 but when they came up double header 2kg fish only 1 would swim away. heading home with 4 snapper. Was a great day on the water , and IN the water hey frizz , ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚ while I was driving up on trailer I noticed pete's hat floating , then he stood up ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚ hmm ramp a bit slippery
ps remember report all snapper catches.

Friday was a nice day to get The Hulk out of the shed and over to Wirrina again as there is only ling and barracoota off victor , Met Friz, at ramp at 7ish. i noticed his fav part of the boat was missing... The Minkoda missing , with a sad look he said its at the doctors last trip out he gave it a swim And it refused to do a few things , Anyway we launched and headed out to lump looking for a Snook, found a spot dropped the pick ( not frizzers fav thing to do) Dropoed berly in and floated a few pillies down. dropped a few lines down the bottom frizz hoping for slimies/ tommies ,I went larger hoping for a ray , while we wait a coffee and cake friz bought up rock cod and leather jacket not target fish. On my side up came 3 dog sharks and a fiddler ray . No target rays! Frizzers floater took off with a nice 700mm snook come up , i lost 2. We up anchor and start to troll around finding the odd 1. Time to chase some squid , water dirty makes it tuff , more lure throws needed , got 1 but was long time between coffee n cake , moved a few times for nothing , There's alway a compertition in the boat and after that 1 squid i was in front , SW breeze at 10knts makes it hard to find a place to drift for squid , frizz annouced the 10 min warning , which would have left me winning the day . On the way to marina frizz said lets anchor where you got ya squid for 10 mins , he has squid rigs under floats that act as teasers while throwing lures my side i MIGHT have missed that a float was down , I get a thump on the shoulder floats down , i pulled it in and 5 followed , after a hour we had 8 each meaning frizz won day with a larger snook 5hrs 2 snook 8 squid , NOTE good to see fisheries out there checking boats , they pulled alongside asked permission to board all fine.

Well the The Hulk is back after 5 months in nsw chasing everything from marlin to bass, The weather was good, the tides not the biggest, and the fishing very slow on table fish and full of s**t fish with Big macca crowded king s**tty ๐Ÿคฃ with
11 coota, 16 ling, 1 nannagui sm, 1 mother inlaw fish.

Between Frizzer, Trent, scott over 35 coota,25 ling , 8 sm snapper,3 sm nannies, 2 flatties sm,5 miscellouse crap.

we covered 40km from spot to spot with coota everywhere even bubbling the water at times. The youngest (Trent) learnt not to drink to much the night before , thankgod for the lockable cabin doors and ๐Ÿคฎ๐Ÿคข๐Ÿคข๐Ÿ˜ซ๐Ÿ˜จ๐Ÿฅน.

came home with a empty esky , the funniest moment of the day was big macca fighting a snag for 20 mins thinking it was a big ray before frizz discovered it was the bottom and snapped his rig off ๐Ÿคฃ, Thankgod the big fella spent 2hrs tying rigs sat afternoon , as coota will eat anything , Coffee and anzac biccies the highlight.

Well it's been a busy couple months for Peter, Geoff and the hulk in nsw 6 Marlin, 12 gummies sharks, 2 school sharks, 2 deep sea ling (5 kg & 6kg), 1 blue eye travlla (9kg), heap of ocean perch lots of bonito (biggest was 52 cm), heaps of flathead (biggest 60.2 cm), strip tuna (biggest 5 kg), nanigi, heap of snapper (we got 90 in 2 days only kept 15 nsw bag limit is 10 per day per person biggest 63.3 cm won frizz $440) heap of samon an tailer, mowies, lots of rockcod an s**tt fish 2 sea eels, 1 sea bird, Heap of dolfin fish (biggest 96 cm), slimmies for bait and when they're not out in the boat they are chucking lures in the river that goes through the farm getting a few nice bass. With the blue and yellowfin starting to turn up I'm sure that there will be more fun to be had for the boys.

Not everyday has been good though. While the weather hasn't played the game frizz needed something to pass the time so he started to make his own snapper snatches and it's become a nice little hobby for him. The boys used them in the snapper comp with great success ( see pics).

While The Hulk has been away big macca and Dean took the opportunity to take the trophy out and get onto a few nice snapper and KGW back here in SA

The Hulks adventures in NSW,
Geoff n Pete decided to do a bit off bottom bouncing in 450m ....1476 feet of water , 1st few drops delivered 6 lg buckets and these 2 big ocean ling. They found a bait ball with at least 2 marlin lit up but , without livies it was going to be tough to hook them. Eventually after the wind came up they headed home. The day before they were 1 of 25 or so boats trying to get close to the 1 bait ball
