Hi, I’m Barry-Dean Dewson, aka Baz!
I’m a local business owner in Victor Harbor and the guy behind Chop It Axe Throwing, Escape It Rooms and Explore It Scavenger Hunt. The number one rated business in South Australia and Winner of the Business of the year Awards Victor Harbor.

I’ve always loved creating things that bring people together whether that’s through fun, challenges, or just giving people a reason to switch off and enjoy the moment. My path’s been a bit different, living with dyslexia and learning by doing, but it’s taught me resilience, creativity, and how to think outside the box. My biggest success, though, is my family, two amazing children and my incredibly supportive wife, who’ve been there through every step of the journey. I’m really looking forward to being part of the FFLP program, meeting great people, and continuing to grow both personally and professionally.

Five years of Chop It Axe Throwing & Escape It Rooms and one thing is certain… no one builds something like this alone.

Yes, we’re a family-run business, but we’re also lucky enough to have an incredible extended team around us who care about this place just as much as we do.

Huge thanks to my amazing friend Kimmie, who is always by my side working the festivals and events with me. Nicki, who helps week in, week out no matter what needs doing, she’s always there to lend a hand.

A big welcome and thank you to Heather and Brody, who are newer to the team but already bringing amazing energy, great character, and helping keep the customer service dream alive.

To my beautiful mum, who has always been a rock, and my amazing wife Jayne, who supports everything behind the scenes and in front of them too thank you.

And to the kids, who become more helpful with every year that passes… watching you grow with the business has been something special.

Lastly, a massive thank you to Charlie, who has been smashing our social media with amazing videos and creative content. Your skills don’t go unnoticed.
