📣 BERGY SIGNS ON AS COACH ❤️🖤

The Blackburn Orioles Baseball Club would like to announce that Ryan Berg has committed to the Burners as the new Club Coach for the next two years!

Bergy is no stranger to the Club as a long time Firsts member, including 2 x Div 1 Premierships and earning himself honours into the Blackburn’s Finest.

He has more recently been a big part of our Junior Program and its success. A multiple premiership winning coach, he has taken great pride in providing support to the entire Junior coaching group to ensure each player can get the best development possible. In addition, he has led the Eastern Athletics Charter team to 3 consecutive State Championships (LL, IL, and JL) and led the team to Nationals.

This is fantastic for the club as Bergy provides a level of familiarity both for our experienced senior players and for our junior players transitioning into Senior group. We look forward to seeing where Ryan can lead the Senior Group.

❤️ THANKYOU HAYDEN 🖤❤️

Prior to the Annual General Meeting, Hayden Di**le informed the Club he would be stepping down from his role as Club Coach of Blackburn.

Hayden has a long history with the club starting as a Junior player developing into one of the best and most feared left handed hitters in Victoria. He played Division 1 for 20+ years and when he deciding to retire, he immediately jumped into coaching at Blackburn, expanding on his previous player-coach roles at other clubs.

He started with our U14’s team where he supported in the development of our Juniors at a critical phase. After two years in the Juniors, he took over as Club Coach for the previous two seasons. Both of which can be seen as successful for different reasons.

In 2024/25, he took the team to the Semi Finals and only just fell short of playing for a Premiership. In 2025/26, the Premier League squad started to bear fruit of the effort we have put into the Juniors for a long period of time, and some of the U14’s that he coached years prior made their way into the Firsts. Overseeing such a young team and ensuring they got the best opportunity to develop was key, which after a tough start soon translated on the scoreboard.

We wish Hayden the best for the future and hope to still see him around Billabong Park!

Further updates on the Club Coach position will be made in the coming days.

🟢🟡 U15 AUSTRALIAN TEAM 🟢🟡

👀 Couple of familiar names on this list! Congratulations to Jacob and Eddie, and all those players who have made the World Cup Team!

Jacob and Eddie were part of the team that took out the Oceania Qualifiers and will now set their sights on testing themselves against the best in the World at the end of the Year.

🚨AGM REMINDER🚨

The AGM for the Blackburn Baseball Club will be held on Wednesday this week.

NOTE: The club has brought forward the start time to 6:00pm for the AGM

The Incoll Family then invite all members of the baseball community to come down from 7:00pm to celebrate the life of Ian Incoll and share their stories of the impact he has left.

Blackburn Baseball Club would like to notify its members of the Annual General Meeting for 2026. This meeting will be held on Wednesday May 20th from 7:00pm at the Billabong Park Clubrooms, Vermont South.

The Annual Reports will be presented to the members and voting of the 2026/27 Committee will take place.

All Positions on the Committee will be declared vacant and nominations for the following positions can be submitted to the Club Secretary by Wednesday 13th May:

🔴⚫️ VALE: IAN INCOLL ⚫️🔴

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the sudden passing of Ian Incoll: 10/08/1945 - 10/05/2026

Ian joined the Burners in 1991/92 with his son Andy, playing in the Senior grades. By 1994/95, he took on the role of Presidency and served for 5 years until 1998/99, the year the club won its first Division 1 Premiership!

Ian remained a strong supporter of the Club over the years, regularly part of the Brewers and supporting the various teams. He was proud to see both his children, Andrew and Leigh play for Burners and even more so when his grandchildren, Aiden and Bella both ran out for the Burners in 2025 in the Seniors and Women's. Just as special was seeing his son and grandson win a premiership together at Billabong Park this summer.

We are inviting all members, past and present to join the Incoll family at Blackburn on Wednesday 20th May from 7pm for a Memorial / Wake to share stories over a couple of drinks and celebrate the impact Ian has left on our club and others.

* NOTE: The AGM will be brought forward to 5:30pm for a 6:00pm start to support this.

🔴⚫️ VALE - RON STEWART ⚫️🔴

Blackburn Baseball Club is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Ron Stewart.

Ron was a valued and active member of our club across many years — pulling on the boots in the 4ths through the late 80s and early 90s, and earlier helping shape our junior program during its formative days. As one of the coaches when Blackburn established its own junior centre — alongside David May, Louis Almanara and Bill Saggers — Ron played an important role in the introduction of juniors at Blackburn.

He will be remembered for his engaging, bubbly and friendly nature — a genuine people person and a terrific clubman who made everyone feel welcome.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Stewart family — Joan, Ben, Steve, Stephanie, Campbell and Sam, and to Di, Devlin and Bailey on the loss of their husband, father, father in-law and grandfather — and also to all those who knew and loved Ron.

Rest easy, Ron. Your contribution and spirit will always be part of Blackburn Baseball Club. 🖤❤️⚾️
