4.30am wake up for a run at the Island. Windy and chilly start to the day. Despite the rush getting organised, car feels good first couple of sessions "best its ever felt at the Island" (BEast). So we finished 7th on points. (The one equal on points finished higher than us in the second race)

Wow. What a weekend. After lots of discussion about car setup, we sent Brendan out on a "not quite dry, just in case". Car was a bit of a handful but he drove an absolutely amazing race to bring us in for the driver change in P11!!!
Betting on the weather turning we did quick setup changes in our 2 minute compulsory Pit stop and re-entered the race in p12. Started to worry when the damn rain wouldn't come and Belinda out in a car that wasn't exactly set up for dry. Couple of safety cars and then the rain. Belinda engaged "Nanna mode" with cars firing off the track everywhere and stayed disciplined and came in with the front pack to bring the car home in P12.
That gave us overall P11 for the weekend. Awesome!!
So many people to thank. Brendan - awesome. Couldn't have had a better copilot. Tyler and Alisha, my fellow spanner swingers. Good job guys. Dylan for helping us with pit strategies and car controller. Hodak Automotive for keeping our car a reliable little beast. Rowse Motors for the set up and advice. Winton Motor Raceway and Hyundai Excel Racing Association of Victoria for putting on such a great event.

With our car, in that driving company, it was a fabulous result and well exceeded our expectations for the meeting.

We also won a raffle prize at the dinner last night.🤣 bonus!

Well, well, well. The little old underpowered excel certainly punched above its weight today. Some awesome driving early from Brendan kept us in the fight. Corners are the strength and Brendan played to our strengths. Safety cars went in our favour and the weather was kind to us.
Belinda changed during a safety car period and got beat up a bit at the restart and dropped a few places but stayed consistent and focussed and she brought the car across the line in 15th place.
A couple of disqualifications meant we finished p13. An amazing result for us - top 20 was the goal.
Great work team - lets do it all again tomorrow.

The combined Qualifying times see ol55 starting from p22 in a 37 car field which is a great result for us.

Brendan out first in the 90 minute race at 3.10pm.

Quick update. Practice Day. Unbelievably it stayed dry all day. Got some good practice sessions in. Belinda setting some new PBs (despite a morning migraine and a lack of coffee) and settled into a consistent rhythm.
Brendan was on the pace (considering our car's well known lack of straight line speed).
New brake pads installed. Drivers tuned up. Weather's unpredictable. 90mm of rain forecast for Sunday.
Nowhere else we'd rather be.

Back to Winton Motor Raceway for the David Lowe Memorial Excel Enduro.
Brendan and Belinda have a had a dry practice session each and car feels good. No guarantees on the weather for the weekend so could be setup changes aplenty for next couple of days.

What a day at Winton Motor Raceway. Had a heap of sessions and did over 60 laps. Dry track, wet track, absolutely p*ssing down track.
Great chance to do some serious testing and try different setups with the new shocks. Worked out we haven't been there for nearly 3 and a half years (Wow. Doesn't seem that long).
So a PB in the dry, then some valuable sessions in the wet. Looking forward to the Excel Enduro in 2 weeks with Co-Driver Brendan Avard back at Winton.
HUGE Thankyou to Rowse Motors for the install and set up, mechanic on call and being all round good guys. Bloody awesome.

Well we did more water crossings to get to Winton Motor Raceway than when we trekked to Cape York but we made it.
Took a punt on the weather and BoM changed the forecast on us today. So wet weather practice it is.
Small field of (brave or foolish) drivers with a few other excels so will be a good test day for the new shocks. Haven't been here in ages and its good to be back.
