Another one of our amazing members giving back to the community.
Knox Council has recognised a number of volunteers and community organisations through the Knox Community Awards.

We are extremely proud to announce that our very own Rob Bloye received a Community Volunteer of the Year – Special Honour award.

Rob was recognised for generously sharing his musical talents to bring connection, dignity and joy to residents in independent living and aged care at Glengollan Village, along with the wider Knox community.
An amazing achievement and a reflection of the community minded person Rob is.

Congratulations Rob, the entire Upwey-Tecoma Bowls Club is proud

A huge congratulations to our Treasurer Melissa Failla on being accepted into the 2026 Whitehorse City Council Women in Sport Leadership Program.

This is a fantastic achievement and great recognition of the work Melissa already does at our club.

The program is designed to help develop emerging female leaders in community sport through a series of workshops focused on communication, resilience, leadership, conflict management and building high-performing teams.

Melissa will attend a number of leadership sessions over the next few months at the Nunawading Community Hub, finishing with a celebration at the Whitehorse Sport and Recreation Awards later in the year.

Melissa has already become an important part of the club through her role as Treasurer, involvement around the club and willingness to help wherever needed. I’m sure she’ll gain plenty from the program and bring back some great ideas and experience to UTBC as well.

Well done Melissa, a terrific achievement and something our club should be proud of.

Well that’s a wrap on Friday Night Barefoot Bowls for another season!

What a summer it’s been, nearly 2000 locals through the gates enjoying great nights of bowls, laughs, and good company. From families and groups of friends to Christmas parties and birthday celebrations, and community groups socials to football team bonding sessions, the green was buzzing every Friday night.

The BBQ was firing with the best butcher club sausages going around, Ross and Brett kept the drinks flowing, and the awesome tunes each week kept the vibe up. Plenty of groups made a night of it with fish & chips and pizza too.

One of the best parts? Seeing so many kids out on the green having a roll, and plenty of old friends catching up along the way.

A massive shoutout to our amazing members, who made it all happen, setting up, hosting, and packing up week after week. We couldn’t do it without you.

Thanks to everyone who came along this season, and we look forward to seeing the community back on the green next summer!

Great to welcome a couple more new faces to the club: John and Bradley

They joined us a few weeks ago and are both new to lawn bowls, but have jumped straight in. It’s been great seeing them getting involved in our Wednesday afternoon social games, and John has already lent a hand at a couple of our barefoot bowls nights- awesome!

They’re terrific additions to the club, so make sure you say g’day and have a roll with them when you see them around.

Here they are pictured receiving their Silhouette Pet Grooming & Supplies new member pack.

Welcome aboard guys!

It’s been a huge week of bowls for Upwey-Tecoma at the Victorian Open. We had ten bowlers competing over all of the main events, who between them played a staggering 70 matches! Well done to Amy Ewison, Karen Rice, Cam Davison, Chris Green, Daniel Zaffarese, Glenn Kirby, John Bulmer, Mat Bailey, Michael Walker and Steve Mileham.

Incredibly, by entering so many of the competitions, we ended up one of the top 25 clubs in Victoria for participation – an incredible achievement!

We again had a really successful event, with lots of section wins and lots of knockout finals wins. In chronological order:

• Karen and Daniel reaching the R64 in the mixed pairs

• Michael and Cam reaching the R64 in the pairs

• Chris (and John Parker) reaching the R16 in the pairs

• Karen reaching R64 in the singles

• Cam, Daniel (and good friend of the club Glenn Slater) reaching R16 in the triples

• Karen (and Monbulk friends Anne and Jenny) reaching R16 in the triples

• Steve reaching R128 in the singles (what an achievement for a new bowler!)

• Daniel reaching R64 in the singles

• Cam reaching R32 in the singles

Congratulations everyone!

Thanks to everyone who followed along with the results and sent through messages of congratulations.
