The other big final on the weekend was of course the clash between the two Ropehill B grade teams. When, if ever have two B grade sides from the same club played the Grand Final.
Final Result
Congratulation to the B grade team who defeated the Colts to take the Premiership.
B Grade 8-136 def Colts 135
The Colts won and toss and made the surprising choice to bat first. They were then in trouble early, 1-7, 2-11 and then 3-14. Then a steady partnership between Jon Walk (17) and Aaron Sippel took the score to 54. Aaron Sippel was then in another steading partnership with young c**t Phil Bauer (23 runs, not his age) before Phil fell and it was 6-105. Aaron continued to be the main contributor to the score and finished with 47 and the c**ts were all out for 135. Both opening bowlers for the B grade side Jazzy Singh (2-18) and Jackson Stewart (2-25) were strong with the new ball but it was Gagandeep Grewal who stood tall and took 5-11 from 3.4 overs. It was an impressive bowling and fielding performance and 135 never looked enough for the c**ts.
The B grade side were off to a shaky start in the small chase and were 2-11 after Matty Sippel took back to back wickets with the first two balls of the third over. Keegan Burchmann then came to crease and with Gagan (32) took the score to 3-75 with a solid partnership. The wicket did not slow down Keegan who continued on with his innings (a match winning one) to finish with 64 (60 balls) before falling with the score at 4-116. A second wicket fell on 116 and the c**ts were back in the game and it was again anyone's games. Wicket then fell at 124, 126 and the 8th wicket fell when scores were even. The winning single came from the ever cool and calm bat of Dan Berardo.
Congratulations to the B grade side on their premiership and also to Colts for a great season.
