A wonderful Australian Light Horse photograph I found today.

The photograph was taken in Gin Gin, Western Australia, in 1943, during WW2, of 'Grey Girl' lying down for her master, Lieutenant W.M. Cooper of the 10th Light Horse Regiment.

I have read, during WW2, Gingin, Western Australia (historically often spelled Gin Gin), served as a vital strategic base for Australian Light Horse units tasked with defending the Western Australian coastline against a potential Japanese invasion.

Troopers used their mounts to navigate and patrol the rugged, sandy tracks of the West Australian coast, which were inaccessible to standard military vehicles of the era.

The 10th Light Horse Regiment has a legendary history in Western Australia. During WW2, it was famously recognized as the last regiment in Australia to continue using horses operationally.
