The past five days have been an amazing achievement for the team to play some of the best teams from around Australia.

The journey for this team began back on Australia Day at U14 Representative Trials where our Coach saw the potential in the boys and what he could guide and coach them to achieve.

The team trained hard and grew stronger as a unit to finish runners up in the South Queensland Junior Basketball Competition against some amazing teams.

This result made them hungry for more and they went through their pool at the Queensland Basketball State Championships undefeated. With wins in their Semis and then a nail biting one point victory in the Grand Final, the team secured the title of Queensland State Champions.

This victory earnt the team a place in the National Club Championships where they were the only Queensland team to qualify in the top 12 and play in the Championship League and finish ninth out of twenty five teams.

The Swm Pirates Team is proud to have achieved so many things in the 2024 season including:
● runner up in the Premier League of the Basketball Queensland South Queensland Junior Boys Competition;
● winners of the Basketball Queensland U14 Premier League Boys State Championship;
● second U14 boys team at South West Metro Pirates to win a Premier League State Title;
● the only Queensland team to make it into the Championship League of the top twelve teams out of twenty five in the Naional Club Championship;
● finished as the ninth best boys team out of the twenty five best teams from across Australia.

This journey would not have been possible without the unwavering assistance from our supporters who have given positive and encouraging messages of support, and have given up time and financial support to assist with our fundraising efforts.

The team is truly grateful for the financial assistance from all of our sponsors and amazing companies and persons who provided financial assistance through sponsorship and donations, and prize donations for our fundraisers.

A huge thanks to our team parents who have clocked up many hours and kilometres in bringing the players to training, to games and competitions across this great land of ours, and for the time they have given up to assist with our fundraisers.

And last but not least, the team is truly grateful to our coaches, Mack and Rama, for not only teaching and strengthening the skills of the game but also for instilling the values of discipline, perseverance, and teamwork. The guidance and personal sacrifices they have made have shaped the team into both better athletes and better young men, and the team is deeply grateful for their dedication and commitment.

Another super game of ball by the SWM Pirates U14 Boys GOLD Team. Not the result we wanted to make it in to the top 8, but an amazing display of guts, determination and mateship, to fight back from 27 points down half way through the third quarter against a formidable opponent.

Two more games tomorrow to see where we place in positions 9 to 12.

In a State of Origin playoff, NSW Champs Vs QLD Champs it was neck and neck until the end of the third quarter afterwhich the Bears capitalised on some errors to take the win. Great game with another pool game tomorrow. Lessgo SWM Pirates U14 Boys GOLD Team 🏴‍☠️🏀🏴‍☠️🏀
