It’s always an honour to attend Australia’s major rodeo events but this one is a little bit special. after being removed as a supplier in 2012 and seeing the disappointing decline of the iconic event to being invited back by the new committee in 2025 to help with its resurrection is extremely rewarding.
Major events like Mt Isa deserves the very best and this event has a committee of extremely intelligent people who have guided it back to the original glory days.

Thank you Mt Isa Rodeo committee for including our services for your amazing event. we are now looking forward to a bigger and brighter 2027 Mighty Mt Isa Rodeo.

Great history in these books.

Our mother Sylvia Gill was a long time secretary for our grandfather Jack Gill who organised many rodeo events throughout Australia via supplying livestock,portable arena and all rodeo personnel.
Mum received all the entries either via telegram or public phone calls then transferred them into her rodeo entry book.
We are lucky enough to have these books that are part of rodeo history. Reading through them is an amazing experience seeing numerous rodeo legends names throughout.
We thought we would share the 1973 ARRA Trafalgar Rodeo Entries pages as we are sure it will bring back a lot of great memories for many of the cowboys and cowgirls who attended along with their families.

It was always destined for massive growth after the past committee and organisers were moved on.

Congratulations Mark Thompson,Marcus Curr and the rest of the awesome committee who have gone above and beyond to ensure this iconic event thrives for years to come.

Mount Isa has again turned into the centre of Australian rodeo, with the 67th Mount Isa Mines Rodeo drawing one of its biggest and most diverse competitive fields yet.

As reported by The National Tribune, almost 800 competitor starts were registered for the 2026 event at Buchanan Park and Kalkadoon Arena, with riders arriving from every mainland state, Tasmania and New Zealand.

The numbers also show how quickly participation is broadening. Organisers recorded 200 female competition starts and 240 junior starts, including riders as young as six. The inaugural Ladies Bronc Series also made its debut, giving female bronc riders a dedicated competition at Mount Isa.

This year's field was chasing the richest prize purse in the rodeo's 67-year history, while thousands of spectators travelled to northwest Queensland for the three-day event from August 7 to 9.

Beyond the main competition, the program included the Mount Isa Mines Indigenous Rodeo Championships, with former NRL player Sam Thaiday returning as ambassador. Kalkadoon musician William Barton was also scheduled to perform around Sunday's Indigenous championships.

The event produced strong demand away from the arena too. The Cowgirls in the Capital Cocktail Brunch sold out in just one hour.

Among the younger riders was 13-year-old Lareece Daley-Kennedy, who is heading to youth roughstock finals in Oklahoma and Texas later this month. Mount Isa Rodeo contributed $10,000 toward her trip.

After a strong comeback in 2025, Mount Isa has followed it with another huge weekend, reinforcing the rodeo's place among Australia's biggest outback sporting events and a major regional draw.

With our events calendar constantly expanding through new affiliates choosing our services 2026 is shaping up as our biggest year on record.
Up to this point of the year Gill Bros Rodeo has supplied to 26 events for 34 performances and the next 4 months will bring another 16 events for 27 performances.
42 events for 61 performance on our books so far this year with more tbc. This does not include the events we sub contract to as we have broncs and bulls traveling with various contractors throughout Australia.
