Handball SA - South Australia

Handball SA - South Australia Handball SA organises Team Handball and Beach Handball competitions in South Australia. Handball SA is the peak body for European Handball in South Australia.

It organises annual competitions for
- Indoor Handball from April to September and

There are two Indoor Clubs:
- West Adelaide Handball Club - based at Underdale High School
- South Adelaide Handball Club - based at Westwinster School
Games 1 hour long (two 30 minute halves) and we encourage members to come

early or hang around to support the other games. Beach is a great entry point for new players to handball. Its really social and lots of fun. Games are Sunday afternoons on the beach at Glenelg (southern side of the jetty). It's a great sport to play in your off season or as a team building activity for corporate groups. Games are only 20mins. Both Indoor and Beach Handball have National Competitions which are hosted by different states as the competition rotates around Australia. Indoor also includes a 'friendly' competition weekend between Victoria and South Australia. Handball SA also provides leadership and training for its members and the wider community. It is especially committed to growing the sport through schools and universities, and works closely with many schools to facilitate coaching sessions. Handball SA is made up of a committee of dedicated volunteers. For the sport to grow we need all members and friends of Handball SA to play their part by regularly attending trainings & games, learning how score and to set up courts and making sure we act in a manner that aligns with the Handball's philosophy (including pickup up rubbish/cigarette butts, watching our language, supporting new people who are learning the game and learning how to ref/coach). Handball SA has been fortunate to receive funding from the Office from Recreation and Sport. This funding is limited and requires Handball SA to continuously improve the governance, administration &n development of the sport. We are doing what we can and really appreciate our members and friends of Handball SA 's ongoing support. The Australian Club Championships and Oceania qualifier for the Super Globe are announced for July 17-21 in Canberra.

Initial EOIs due 24 May. Information booklets to follow from your States organisation.

Just ahead of our Australian Open Beach Handball Championships, being held this week at Coolangatta, Handball Australia would like to congratulate the following Beach Handball players selected in the Australian Men's Team to compete in the 11th IHF World Beach Handball Championships being held in Pingtan China from 18 -24 June 2024. As winners of the OCHF 2023 Championship they are also representing Oceania Beach Handball. The team is led by Coach Lucas Turecek who is supported by Daniel Babich as Team Manager.
