I’m in Rome & reminiscing about my Mount Kosciusko trip back in April 😂

It’s beautiful here and the vibe & energy of Europe is much different from home (in a good way) however all I keep thinking is “ok now all I want to do to is finish the day off with my bare feet on some grass and have a swim”….. I know it sounds crazy?!

I did find some grass near the colosseum but you are not allowed to stand on it and the police yell at you and blow their whistle. If you have seen princess diaries you’ll know the part I’m talking about where she gets yelled at in multiple differently languages to “GET OFF THE GRASS!” 😂

I’m a kid whose been spoilt and brought up on acreage but feeling very grateful for the country I call home. So here’s some snaps of my Kosciusko hike. I highly recommend this hike to anyone who is a sucker for a challenge, fresh air and natural beauties 👌🏽

Okay who else is guilty of doing this repeatedly??!! 🙋🏼‍♀️

Most conversations I hear of late are about how you can’t seem to switch your brain off. And some of you may have even accepted that’s just who you are and it’s a way of life. But did you know that your over thinking & over active brain is holding you back & limiting your results?! Results that your working really hard for.

Not being able to switch off results in being in a heightened state of stress. Your body can only handle so much of this before your immune/nervous system become compromised. This then can limit your results as well as behavioural choices because your decision making becomes clouded & foggy.

Being able to quiet the mind is key however easier said than down, right?

When you find yourself creating scenarios in your head or over thinking try some of these below and see what works for you 👇🏽

- do a 5 minute breathing exercise. Having to focus on your breathe can take your attention away from your over thinking.

- journal your thoughts. I do this before bed to clear my head so I get a decent nights sleep.

- exercise 💪🏽 or go for a walk.

- bake something. The process of creating and following a recipe takes your thoughts off what’s going on inside your head.

If you are someone who:

- doesn’t get enough sleep
- doesn’t get much natural sunlight/fresh air
- trains 3 + times a week but doesn’t practice recovery
- drinks alcohol daily or binged on weekends
- always in a constant state of stress and always in a ‘hurry’

It’s 5.45am in the morning. It’s 3 degrees and your cold. You’re questioning yourself saying “why the hell am I here…. doing this? I’m cold, I’m tired and my bed is warm!”

FAST FORWARD to 10 weeks time.

It’s the first week of Spring. You can smell the change in the air and it’s sunny at 6am. The days are warmer and brighter. Your picking out new clothes to go out in and you can feel the sun on your skin. Life’s good.

And that’s why you’re up at 5.45am or @ 6pm, after work and training in the dark, 3 days a week to get the work done.

It’s easy to chose comfort. But nothing great happens inside your comfort zone.

Winter may be here, but Spring will eventually come. Keep at it 💪🏽🌼🌞

This is because certain hormones are released in our sleep 💤….. one of those being ‘growth’ hormones.

Growth hormones assist in regulating muscles, fat & tissues in our bodies. They also effect certain areas of our metabolism e.g. insulin (which controls blood sugar). This hormone is released roughly around 11pm to 2am.

Their are many other hormones released during our sleep which are vital for repair and rejuvenation of our body, mind, cells, tissues, bones, muscle etc. If you don’t currently get enough sleep it’s wise you start putting a sleep plan in place to increase this for your overall well-being.
