Congratulations to Umina SLSC Life Member and former Club President Brett Harrod on being appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the King’s Birthday Honours.

Brett has dedicated decades of service to Surf Life Saving, leading at club, branch, state and national levels. Throughout his distinguished career, he served as President of Umina SLSC, Central Coast Branch and Surf Life Saving NSW, as well as a Director of Surf Life Saving Australia.

Among his many achievements, Brett secured funding to build eight new Surf Life Saving Clubs across NSW, helped establish state-wide emergency response systems and operating procedures that became national best practice, led the growth of Surf Life Saving NSW’s lifeguard services and commercial training operations, was instrumental in the introduction of the 13SURF rescue call-out service, and helped develop national event venue selection and hosting criteria.

While Brett’s impact has been felt across not just Umina SLSC, but Surf Life Saving Australia, his leadership, vision and commitment have helped shape not only our club, but the future of Surf Life Saving nationwide.

This recognition is a fitting tribute to an extraordinary contribution to Surf Life Saving and the wider community. We are incredibly proud to celebrate one of Umina’s own and congratulate Brett on this well-deserved honour.

National Volunteer Week ❤️💛🩵🖤🤍

This week we celebrate the people who make our club what it is.

The members who give up their time to patrol the beach, coach our athletes, support our young people, officiate, age manage, train others, step into leadership roles and quietly help behind the scenes without ever asking for recognition.

Surf Life Saving is built on volunteers and every single role matters. Whether you wear the red and yellow, offical at a carnival, cook a BBQ, mentor a young member or help keep the club running, thank you.

Our community is safer, stronger and better because of you.
