Message from Rieley 16 Girls Coach ๐
Iโm not the best at public speaking so I thought I would send a message instead.
Firstly I wanted to say I think for sure we have the best group of parents and I couldnโt have been prouder of the effort and commitment from you guys. So a massive Thank you to all of you, for everything especially for getting the girls too and from carnivals as well as trainings, without you nothing would be possible.
A massive Thank you to Renai our manger, your help and communication is very appreciated and took a lot of pressure off me. I personally couldnโt have done it without you and you made my job as coach so much easier. I could focus on the girlโs learning and you would deal with all the other stuff. Thank you
Lastly Thank you to the girls, i have throughly enjoyed coaching you all this season and seeing each of you thrive to be not only amazing touch players but also people has been so rewarding. We had a really good season, where we were able to completely improve our game performance and towards the end we really came into ourselves individually and as a team. Proud would be an understatement considering 9 of the girls in our 16s team are only 14 and played up this season with the majority only turning 14 after the touch season was completed which shows how much each and everyone of the girls are capable. So Thank you all, you make me love coaching so much.
I also wanted to congratulate both Shilah and Lucy for stepping up to help out palm beach in Junior State Cup. I would have loved to take our team to Rockhampton to have that experience but Iโm am beyond proud of the two of you going into a different team with people you have never played with after having only one training session. You two did not for a second look out of place and I think that you showed just how good not only you are but how good our team is as well.
My awards this season
Players player -
This year players player was extremely close with everyone getting several votes. In the end Milla ended up as the girlโs choice for her commitment to chase every player and put her body on the line continuously to help not only to save tries but to score them too. The girls recognised Millaโs persistence for tags and how she was able to adapt on the field to play off the middle setting the move up or run the ball up herself.
Most improved -
For most improved i had two awards for this as I couldnโt choose just one.
Ruby A -
Ruby came into a team of players who majority of them had played together last year, and at the start of the season had not much touch fundamentals. However her commitment to come to most of our training sessions and put in the effort to learn, as well as asked questions in order to improve her touch skills. Are some of the reasons I chose her for my award.
By the last couple of carnivals Ruby became a very strong and efficient winger which was obvious In Rudyโs game performances.
Stevi -
Stevi got my other most improved award as each game she continues to impress me with how much better her touch skills grow and she performs throughout the season. At the end of last year Stevi was our main team winger who when she was on the field every player wanted to play the position beside her.
This season however I needed her to play link, and she took the challenge up and not only played amazing as a link but also played middle when needed. Stevi always has a can do attitude and goes out on the field giving 100% every time which is evident when she played games with a broken finger and bunged up knee. However no matter how injured she was she continued to chase down and tag girls who made a break which made everyone realise how fast Stevi has become. Stevi actually got our most improved award last year but I couldnโt go past the amount of improvement that she has had this year as well.
Coachโs award -
I always struggle with a coachโs award as there are so many aspects that come into this award and so many players that could have got it. Almost every girl could have been the coaches award recipient.
This year I decided to give it to Marley for her commitment to turning up to pretty much all training sessions, with a good attitude, she listened, tired her best at anything and everything she was given. Marleyโs performance improved immensely at the the second last carnival (Redlands), even though she scored on the wrong line. Haha. However it was amazing to see everything that she had learned come out into her game performance.
One of the main things I was extremely proud of was her communication within the games not only on the sideline but also the field. It shows a lot of growth to her character, even though Marley is pretty shy, she was confident in the team environment and with the players around her.
This year, just like every year I have coached has been extremely hard time for me choosing any awards as each and everyone of the girls deserve some recognition. Everyone of the girls are a very valuable member of our team and I couldnโt have been prouder of their performances at each of the carnivals. So Thank you all again for an amazing season.
Iโm hoping each of the girls choose to come back and trial again for rep next season as well as play in the Friday night competition.
Thank you,
Rieley ๐งก๐ค
