Cool rainy days like these have me thinking of warm nights spent hurling lures into the black. I leant heavily on the low-geared Revo Winch to extract a few red fish this season past.

The new Versart from Abu is a rod with true JDM heritage. The Japanese quality is something you’ll feel as soon as you pick up this rod. The 7’2” Light model is a comfortable length for firing out long casts down the bank. With a line class rating of 2-5kg it delivers that little extra backbone I feel I’m always looking for in a 2-4kg blank. I’m sold on this one ☝️ 🇯🇵

Good to be back on the pond chasing the bronze ones on the flooded edges before they head deep for the winter.

Flew down the coast. Met great people. Saw a big shed. Caught a flatfish. Flew on home.

Abu Garcia VOLTiQ + Versart
This is one I’ve been sitting on for a while now. A dream to cast and didn’t miss a beat. Built on the same platform as the Revo range so it feels familiar in the hand and don’t worry, that electric whine doesn’t take long to get used to.
The Versart has come straight from the Japanese domestic market and immediately feels like the premium blank it is.
I can’t wait to get my hands on this combination again.
