I was not expecting this! Fishing new water, anything can happen.

ActiveTarget is good but unfortunately doesn’t have reliable species-ID yet, still waiting on that update Lowrance. We watched dolphins carve up this school of yakkas from above the water and below before this pack cruised in.

Some fine angling by dafcross kept the fight alive and the line out of the trolling motor. Well done mate!

Deep jigging will never be for the faint of heart. Especially when thugs like these roam the depths. A 200m fight to the surface left me feeling like pulling up stumps for the day 🥵 just after one more drop though.

I’m still reeling from the fact that Charles Hely and I both got kings on the deck before the king of kings Cameron Felice could. Feels like I’m stuck in an alternate reality to be honest.

VOLTiQ has changed the way I fish!

The electronic braking system has opened up a whole range of lighter lures previously delegated to spin outfits. Now I can reliably cast smaller jerkbaits accurately and efficiently during that prime time when every cast counts.

Dabbled in some pest control today with Felice's Flies
A tough bite but we managed to convince this fella a salmon roe fly was in fact a berry 🤷‍♂️ survival of the fittest I guess.

Cool rainy days like these have me thinking of warm nights spent hurling lures into the black. I leant heavily on the low-geared Revo Winch to extract a few red fish this season past.

The new Versart from Abu is a rod with true JDM heritage. The Japanese quality is something you’ll feel as soon as you pick up this rod. The 7’2” Light model is a comfortable length for firing out long casts down the bank. With a line class rating of 2-5kg it delivers that little extra backbone I feel I’m always looking for in a 2-4kg blank. I’m sold on this one ☝️ 🇯🇵

Good to be back on the pond chasing the bronze ones on the flooded edges before they head deep for the winter.

Flew down the coast. Met great people. Saw a big shed. Caught a flatfish. Flew on home.
Not a bad weekend indeed. Some exciting things coming out of that big shed soon
