Modern Jive can be described interchangably with "Ceroc", a franchised dance style taught around the world. We are degendered, refering to the dance roles as either "lead" or "follow" - men can follow and women can lead. No partner is required to attend our classes as we rotate around, allowing people to dance with everyone. If you do want to learn with the one partner, we also accommodate for non
-rotational partnerships. We work on the triangle of technique, safety and consent being in mind with every move performed to ensure you and your partner enjoy every dance. Beginners involve teaching 3 moves along with the fundamentals to help you be confident in your movements and progress. Intermediate involves more complex sequences and movements, including multiple spins, sits/dips/drops, aerials and stylistic adaptations. We recommend attending 10 weeks of beginners before moving up to intermediate and asking our teachers if we believe you are ready. Our Monday nights are structured like this:
- Doors open at 7pm for social dancing
- Beginner class from 7:30 to 8:15pm
- Social dancing 8:15 to 8:45pm
- Choice of Beginners Consolidation or Intermediate class 8:45 to 9:30pm
- Social dancing 9:30 till doors close at 10pm
