Club Statement
The Club wishes to provide an update to our members, sponsors, supporters and the wider community regarding tomorrow's senior fixtures.
Our First Grade side has been significantly impacted by injuries in recent weeks. Unfortunately, a number of these injuries have been season-ending, leaving us with only eight First Grade players available for selection.
Throughout the season, our First Grade side has been fortunate to have the support of our U18 players, who have regularly backed up following their own games to help us field a competitive team. We are incredibly grateful for the commitment these young players have shown to the Club.
With our U18s now entering the finals series, player welfare has been at the forefront of every discussion. As a Club, we have a responsibility to ensure our players' long-term wellbeing is prioritised, and we did not want to place our young players in a position where they were required to play two games, including in a significantly depleted First Grade side, at a critical stage of their own season.
After liaising with Group 3 Rugby League regarding the position our First Grade team was in, we have today been advised that there will be no Group 3 Senior Rugby League played in Tuncurry tomorrow.
We would like to acknowledge our First Grade players for their commitment throughout what has been an extremely challenging season, our U18 players for their willingness to continually support the senior squad, and our coaches, volunteers and families who have worked tirelessly under difficult circumstances.
Finally, we would like to sincerely thank our sponsors, members and supporters for your ongoing understanding and support. Your commitment to our Club is greatly appreciated as we continue working to rebuild our senior playing ranks and ensure the long-term success of our Club.
We now look forward to getting behind our U18 side as they commence their finals campaign and wish them every success in the weeks ahead.
Thank you for your continued support.
