8 GCC members headed over to Yerong Creek for Race 3 of the Tour de Riverina and show some support to Riverina Cycling Legend Barry Oโ€™Hagen. Cool temperatures greeted riders on the start line but no rain. The race was a 70km out and back course with some rolling hills. Mia Stockwell was first off in the Limit Group and rode well to pick up 2nd place at the Sprint Prime. Andrew Ritchie, Peter Stockwell and Felipe Ortega were in the next group to start and were coming off great rides in the Dean Carter two weeks ago. The rest of the Griffith team Margaret Conroy, Mathew Smith Brad Hart and Jason Minato were in Group 3. Group 1&2 had combined by the turn around and Group 3 were making good ground on them while keeping scratch and block at bay. Group 3 picked up the front of the Race around the 50km mark and were looking strong. With the final hill about 4 km from the finish and now behind them it was a fast run into the line. With riders jostling for position coming into the line the Griffith riders were in good position. The final sprint to the line seen Matt Smith take 2nd place, Feli Ortega put in a good sprint to take 4th place and Margaret Conroy finished 8th overall and also took out 1st Female. The rest of the Griffith riders all came in not far away from the placings. A great day out by all GCC members flying the Club Colours admirably. ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธ

Over the past two (2) weekends Griffith Cycle Clubs Margaret Conroy has been testing herself at a couple of recent events.

In the Tour of Orange, Margaret competed in A grade (a promotion after her success in B grade last year). Had an interesting race weekend, but a definite highlight finishing 6th in the road race (bunch finish)...good learning experience but strong ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ stuff.

Last weekend, Margaret competed in the Canberra Womens Tour in A grade. More than held her own across the 4 stages with a super 2nd place ๐Ÿฅˆresult in the Criterium ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ‘....tough racing but all the better for the experience.

Great stuff Chief ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

๐Ÿ† Bertoldos Pointscore Results ๐Ÿ†

Another cracking day for race 2 of this year's Pointscore around the Myall Park loop. Actually some would say the conditions were almost perfect ๐Ÿ˜œ.

Riders were split into 4 bunches with Scratch giving limit 10 minutes to get up the road and try to hold everyone off.....could they do it?

2nd limit started 3 minutes behind them and set off at a cracking pace....which was going to make things interesting for the following bunches.

Block headed off 5 minutes behind them and based on the way these boys rode in last week's Dean Carter it was going to be tough for Scratch....

Scratch started 2 minutes behind them and set off on the task of reeling in the field.....going to be tough but if they worked together it was achievable.....could they get up ๐Ÿค”

The pace of all four bunches was up there and it was clear it was going to be a quick one....Scratch were powering into the crossroads at Myall Park road where they needed to do some BMX/Cyclocross riding to get around a stalled vehicle at the crossroad....no harm done though....just more incentive to get on with it!

Block were picked up down the back of Myall Park and the 2 bunches combined to try and reel in the front. Along Rankins Springs Road the fun began with the bunch hitting close to 50kph in the chase....2nd limit was picked up around 6kms to go and limit soon after....but those that could hung on strong to try and compete for points ๐Ÿ‘

The pace kept up as riders entered the final bend when the sprinters showed what they had left with Felipe ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ (off the back of a strong Dean Carter outing) blowing Brad and Nigel away to take his 1st win ๐Ÿฅณ.

Great race everyone ...๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป to the handicapper ๐Ÿคช

Some strong rides right across the field today and some spot on handicapping which saw the race come down to a bunch sprint to sort out the podium.....which saw Luke Nixon (WWCC) take out back to back Dean Carter races ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ, from his clubmate Jared Thorwestern ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ, with our own GCC Club President (and legend ๐Ÿ˜œ) Jason Minato taking 3rd (and the Jake Carter medal).....what an awesome podium ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘Š

Tumut Cycle Classic 2026

What an awesome roll up from GCC at the 10th Tumut Cycle Classic today.

After the recent heatwave, conditions were perfect for today's ride. Lots of laughs had over dinner on Saturday night and some strong rides put in ....especially up Wee Jasper Hill ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธ
