Rebels FC Townsville Rebels Football Club - a community providing people from 5 years old an opportunity to participate in the great game of Football.

The Rebels Football Club, formally Thuringowa City Rebels Soccer Club, has been a sporting club for the last 49years. The home grounds for Rebels Football Club is at the Cnr of Thuringowa Drive and Greenwood Drive which holds junior training session on Tuesdays and Thursday from 5pm - 6pm. The Club always has had a very strong membership with a current count of 49 junior teams, (under 5 through to and including under 17) registered with Queensland Football North. We also offer Youth (17-18 yrs) teams. The Rebels Football Club is the only Club in Townsville to have a team in virtuality every competition offered by Queensland Football North

The Junior Football Season officially commences in early March every year, with games taking place at the Queensland Football North grounds at 1300Active Park in Murray and concludes with a Grand Final Day mid September. Finally the club has its own Presentation Day and Break- up celebrations at the end of every season for all Junior teams.

Imagine watching your child walk onto the pitch alongside a Brazilian football superstar 🇧🇷 ⚽

Kids aged 7–15 could experience this once-in-a-lifetime moment when Brazil take on the Socceroos in Townsville or Brisbane later this month, with five winners selected for each match.

Thank you to all of our amazing families for turning out for Junior Presentation yesterday, and making it one of the most memorable in recent years. Congratulations in particular must go to our highly successful U15 Ri**es and U14-16 Rubies Girls on their stellar seasons, all of the individual awards recipients, and the perpetual awards recipients.

Thanks must also go to local member Natalie Marr MP and Premier David Crisafulli MP, along with members of the Greenwood Park Sporting Committee, for attending the event and taking part in the presentation. Your support in all its forms is greatly appreciated.

Introducing the GUNNERS Program

We're excited to announce the launch of the Rebels FC GUNNERS Program, coming in 2027.

The GUNNERS Program is a new skills development initiative designed to provide players with additional opportunities to develop key football skills in a fun, challenging and supportive environment. The program will focus on core technical areas including receiving, passing, striking the ball, running with the ball, communication, positioning and decision-making.

Developed and led by Technical Director Ian Bonato, the program will complement players' existing team training, providing additional opportunities to build confidence, improve technique and support their long-term football development.

Open to players aged 7-16 years from Rebels FC and across the wider Townsville football community, the GUNNERS Program will operate alongside existing football commitments and is designed to support players at all stages of their football journey. Participation is entirely voluntary and will have no impact on grading, team selection or playing opportunities.

This is another important step in Rebels FC's commitment to supporting player development, empowering coaches and creating opportunities for players to continue learning and growing within a positive football environment.

As we enter the final week of the 2026 season for junior teams, the club has some important information for members.

🏆 Junior Presentation - Sunday 13th September, 3pm, Greenwood Park

With the presentations commencing at 3pm, members and their families are encouraged to arrive at the ground from 2pm to find a space and set up. Please see the attached site map for the seating area (similar to previous years). As always, we ask members who bring shade to set up on the periphery of the viewing area so that everyone is able to see the presentation area in front of the canteen.

Members are encouraged to park in the grassed overflow car park on the Greenwood Park side of the fields, on Thuringowa and Greenwood Drives, or across the road at the shopping centre. As always, please take care when parking and crossing the roads as traffic is always hectic!

With almost 40 teams plus special and perpetual awards, the formalities are expected to run for almost 2 hours. We would ask that members show respect for all teams and remain attentive during the presentations. Food and drinks will be available from 4:30pm as the formalities draw to a close, and we ask that children wait until then to access rides and activities.

Coaches and Managers can collect food and drink tokens for their team from the canteen. Tokens can also be purchased from the canteen and at the food service area for all other members.

Once presentations are complete, members are free to enjoy the festivities, live music, food and drink and enjoy the atmosphere into the twilight!

📷 Team Photos

There was a slight delay, but team photos are now ready. Team Coaches and Managers are able to collect these from the canteen this week, and can then distribute to your teams. We ask individuals to not ask for their photos at the canteen as this will overwhelm our volunteers.

⚽ Equipment return

Coaches and managers, please do not return your equipment at Junior Presentation as we cannot assist on the day. You can drop it off to the club 5-6pm on the following Tuesday or Thursday, or organise another time by contacting the club.

📤 2027 Returning player, coach and manager EOIs

Returning player, coach and manager forms will be released this week, using the online form. Please complete these for all participants whether you are returning in 2027 or not. We will then provide EOIs for new members from October.

⭐️ Off season activities

The club is excited to announce that we will be running a 5-a-side competition for Junior players (U5-U15) from October-December on Tuesday nights, and a Senior (U16+) mixed 5-a-side competition on Thursdays. Juniors will nominate a team, and senior players will nominate and teams will be formed via a draft. More info to come!

The club will also be rolling out further updates very soon on exciting opportunities for players wishing to gain access to development programs in 2027, along with information on EOIs for Queensland Premier League (QPL - formerly FQPL) team grading for 2027 Rebels FC QPL junior teams.
