The Townsville & District Rugby Union is incredibly proud to congratulate Bella Canning on her selection in Rugby Australiaโ€™s inaugural NextGen XVs U19 program.

At just 17 years of age, this is an incredible achievement and a fantastic reward for the hard work, commitment and determination Bella continues to show both on and off the field.

Bella was unfortunately unable to take the field in Saturdayโ€™s Womenโ€™s Grand Final, as she was away attending the Rugby Australia training and selection camp, and we think this is a pretty special reason to miss a Grand Final!

The NextGen XVs program has been created to identify and develop Australiaโ€™s best emerging female rugby talent, providing young players with specialised coaching, high-performance support and a pathway towards the next level of the game.

As part of the program, the Rugby Australia U19 teams will take the field on 12 September and 3 October, providing Bella and her fellow athletes with the opportunity to compete and continue developing in a national high-performance environment.

It has been fantastic to watch Bella continue to develop through rugby, and we are so proud to see her earn this incredible opportunity to represent Australiaโ€™s emerging talent.
