Sometimes in fishing we forget about the basics , the latest live , side imaging, rod , reel or lure seem to overtake how we all started and that was very basic fishers.
Whilst having all this flash gear is nice, but has staring at a screen and catching no more than when you fished basic, really as much fun than our early days.
On my travels I have stopped at Jundah on the lovely Thomson River and dropped back to my basic fishing, the same fishing I did with my dad and grandad when I was young , a forked stick to hold my fishing rod although my combo isn't a Jarvis Walker Black Queen suited with a Mitchell spin reel it will do just fine to bring the memories back.
A small bait trap filled with some soap and bingo fresh shrimp bait.
Whilst sitting on the riverbank line in the water ,rod in V stick suddenly a dancing rod tip GRANDAD I have a bite but Grandad is long gone but the memories haven't
Sometimes basic is fun 🎣🎣

Well arrived at tibooburra and headed bush to see if I could find some gold and guess what found a little nugget and how weird its in the shape of a fish.
We are camped off grid on Gumvale Station awesome place not a sole around in a big valley , must admit loving the starlink.

Sad news for the NQ Fishing Show whilst we have been away , one of our favourite listeners and friend Neil Kidd or lucky Neil as we called him passed away last week.πŸ˜₯
Neil regular phone calls from Lucinda were a favourite part of the show , Neil and Marty also have the honour of the shows first ever complaint after a joke about the wiggles and unsavoury people 🀣🀣
We are sending our love and hugs to Jean and family and we are better people for knowing and sharing time with Neil.
I bet as we speak Marty and Neil are laughing over the Wiggles πŸ˜ƒ
RIP mate and thanks for the friendship and memories ❀️🎣🎣

After a couple of cold and wet days in Cobar we have headed to White Cliffs and set up camp.
Dad has driven up from Melbourne so really nice to see them.
Time to chill and scratch around to see what we can find , crossed the Darling River at Wilcannia not much water but still has a fishy feel.

What a awesome couple of days fishing the Ingham Rod and Reel Catch and Release Tournament although the weather was crap the atmosphere made up for it.
Its always great to catch up with everyone and chat.
The NQ Fishing Show had a pretty good time catching some nice barra to put on the scoreboard. Kayleen landed two nice barra 66cm , 56cm then topped it off with a thumping 56cm grunter , I managed a 61cm and a 44cm barra for the day .Day 2 started wet and windy and then in true Hinchinbrook style stayed wet and windy 🀣 , fishing was a bit slower for us but we still managed a 63cm and 45cm barra topped off with a 46cm cod. All in all we had a great comp finishing 26th out of 61 teams with Kayleen 3rd place lady. Kayleen Powis fishing very well in trying conditions πŸ‘
Well done to the winners
Rhyce Bullimore champion angler and champion barramundi
Kyle Coburn and Jaxson Gallagher Champion Team
Kirra Royle Champion Female.
The NQ Fishing Show sponsored the metre barra prize and it went to Jaxson Gallagher for a 107.
Thank you to the team at Ingham Rod and Reel Club another perfect comp except for a bit of wind and rain 🌧 πŸ˜€
