We’re incredibly proud to share that $10,000 has been raised to support Yak and his family. 💙

This is a reflection of what can happen when a community comes together to support one of its own.

A sincere thank you to MD Events, Mendi Constructions and Northern Airconditioning for their support, as well as everyone who contributed through the Townsville Mendi Blackhawks fundraiser and the Strand Walk for Yak.

Every dollar raised will go towards supporting Yak and his family as they navigate the road ahead.

Following the success of the new format in 2025, the carnival returns in 2026 with THREE divisions:
🏆 Men’s Cup | Men’s Shield | Women’s Cup

The rugby league community has always been one that shows up for its own.

Following Jacek McLaurin’s recent injury, we want to come together and show our support for Yak and his family during what will be a long road ahead.

Join us for the Strand Walk for Yak on Sunday 22 March.

📍 Start at Strand Park
🕖 Registrations from 7am | Walk begins at 8am
💰 Minimum $10 donation per person

All funds raised will go directly to Yak’s family to help with the costs of ongoing medical treatment.

The Townsville Mendi 9s family and the wider Townsville community are right behind you.

If you’re able to, come down, bring your friends and family, and walk with us to show your support.
