COACH MENTOR PROGRAM

Are you a developing coach looking for a mentor or some advice?

Do you want to further advance your coaching knowledge by teaming up with an experienced coach?
If so, ANQ has an opportunity just for you!

During the upcoming North Queensland Championships, ANQ will be giving an opportunity to developing coaches to spend some quality time with an experienced coach. During the weekend, each participant will team up with a mentor coach who you will shadow around. You will have opportunities to speak to the coach about training, competition, nutrition etc and watch them coaching in action.

Participants will meet up with their coach at a specific time over the course of the weekend depending on the timetable of events. To be entitled to this exciting opportunity, you must be actively coaching and be currently registered (2026 season) with Athletics Australia.

To celebrate three decades of athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, clubs and families who have helped shape athletics across North Queensland, we’re excited to announce our:

🏃‍♂️ LEVEL 2 DEVELOPMENT COACH COURSE – ROCKHAMPTON 🏃‍♀️

Are you looking to take your coaching to the next level? 👟

Athletics North Queensland is excited to announce a Level 2 Development Coach Course coming to Rockhampton on October 3–4, 2026!

The Level 2 Development Coach accreditation is designed for coaches working with athletes 12 years and older, supporting athletes through the Introduction to Training and Training I (General) stages of development.

Throughout the course, coaches will develop their knowledge and skills in:
🔹 Basic technical models of track & field events
🔹 Biomotor skills and athlete development
🔹 Coaching athletes competing at local, regional and state level
🔹 Developing athletes through appropriate training principles

Whether you're already coaching or looking to build your coaching knowledge, this is a great opportunity to further develop your skills and support the next generation of athletes. 💙💚

During the upcoming North Queensland Championships, ANQ will be offering opportunities to new and upcoming officials and volunteers, who may be interested in learning practical skills for helping at athletics competitions.

This is a great opportunity to develop your officiating know-how in all event groups and work with some of the most knowledgeable officials in Australian athletics, right here in North Queensland.

For our club equipment officers, we are offering an exciting opportunity for club Equipment Managers and volunteers to upskill their knowledge in organising, preparing for and managing athletics competitions more effectively. This could be for a regular club day competition or a higher-level competition.

Want to represent North Queensland at the 2026 Australian All Schools Championships? Here’s how you can put yourself in contention for the NQ Team! 💙💚

🔵 NORTH QUEENSLAND TEAM

To be eligible for selection to the NQ Team, athletes must:

1️⃣ Nominate through the NQ Team Expression of Interest portal
Make sure you have submitted your EOI to be considered for selection.

2️⃣ Compete at the NQ Championships
Athletes must compete in their event at the NQ Championships.

3️⃣ Finish in the Top 2 of nominated athletes
To qualify for selection, you need to finish 1st or 2nd among the athletes who have nominated for the NQ Team in your event.

💙💚 The pathway is simple – nominate, compete and perform!

If you want to pull on the NQ colours and take on the best school-aged athletes in Australia, make sure you get your EOI in and put yourself in the running!

NQ Team EOI → NQ Championships → Australian All Schools Championships 🇦🇺
