Today would be our first day of racing at Speedweek 26, but mother nature had different plans for us.

BY NOW, Sabine Schermer would have done her first run, Jon Guidera would have started about 20 Roockies on the Yamaha World & Royal Enfield track 2 and a few fast cars and bikes would have run on Carbon Impact track 1.
Diané Ranck would have called the races with vigor, Shane Reynolds would have likely made some final modifications, Laura Hodgson would have settled her butterflies in her tummy after her Rookie run, Braden Austin may have achieved his goal of a better PB and Matt Sheppard would have had a chance to look at his first time slip.
Frank would be making the final adjustments on the Royal Enfield, and our dedicated crew Alice Zee, George Zee, Ursula Chapman, Craig Chapman , Kathryn Casey, Elke Bayer and Leigh Widger would have settled into their routines.

While we were all super sad that things turned out different, we all made alternative plans and instead of going fast, we went real slow, cruicing the Murray River, catching up with friends, visiting Pt Lincoln, a trip to KI and feeling lucky and greatful that we are living or are visiting Australia and we are not in a region of war and unrest.

The good News is that we are holding a second event in November and while we can't control heavan, we have something to look forward to.
See you all in November, and please let me know if you are rolling over your March entry, and if crew members can attend.
To all the women riders and racers, happy IWD and lets plan our next adventure.

This year, Frank replaced the wiring harness and spend the last 8 weekends or so, configuring the new on-board computer. Next step - Dyno, before she goes on the big white dyno.

This is what 'Miss Moore' sounds like today. Warning, ear protection recommended.

Its only 65 days to go to Dry Lakes Racers Australia Speedweek 2026 and so much to do.
Out with the old 'kabelbaum', which translates into 'Cable tree' or wireharness, and in with the new.
Bikes are not quite ready but the boots are polished and ready to go.
Cheers, Sabine Schermer and the Daytona boots are in good shape and waiting.
Looking forward to catching up with everybody.

We have a GM for DLRA on Sunday the 18th of January at 11am at the Prancing Pony Brewery. Would be good to have a Salt Monkey meeting as well.

Diané Ranck, Kathryn Casey, Matt Sheppard, Jon Guidera, Alice Zee, George Zee, Ursula Chapman, Craig Chapman, Shane Reynolds, Elke Bayer , Leigh Widger

Salt Monkeys have secured a new sponsor. Our Dry Lakes Racers Australia team, which has close to 20 members, including crew, has been pretty much self funded with Prancing Pony Brewery, Yamaha World & Royal Enfield and Right Laser Cut supporting the team.
Our trusted and amazing grain, hops and ingredient supplier Australia have kindly agreed to support our Dry Lakes Racers Australia team for 2026 and their generous support will be made to good use to feed the crew as well as the timing crew while racing on Lake Gairdner.
We are grateful and humbled by their generosity. We look forward to making everybody proud of their achievements, everybody in the team, and indeed all entrants as we will be pushing our boundaries to achieve new records and personal bests.
We also like to thank all our crew members that take time off work and spend their free time helping us and volunteer at the Dry Lakes Racers Australia.
Thank you to Ursual Chapman, Craig Chapman, Alice Zee, George Zee, Matt Sheppard Diané Ranck, Elke Bayer, Leigh Widger, Sabine Schermer, Kathryn Casey and more.

A great week on and off the Salt.
Thank you, Trent from Cowboy Hat Films for putting this together for Frank Samson and Corinna Steeb and the Prancing Pony Brewery.
Definitely not the fastest engines on the salt, but who cares, the rides are amazing, and at final velocity we feel utter serenity and at one with the Salt, our engines and the universe.
And when we are done, there is nothing sweeter than a cold beer at the bar. :)
Cheers to all the Speed demons, the dreamers, the catalysts, the roadies, the crew and to those before us and after us.

Since 1990, a growing band of enthusiasts has been annually returning to Lake Gairdner — and this year their number included a 96-year-old who reached 97mph on the smooth and dry salt surface.

Speed Week 2025 is done and dusted, in the truest sense.
What an amazing experience for everybody that came.
With 5 bikes and 6 riders in the Salt Monkeys team, we are proud that Jon Guidera and Matt Sheppard achieve new Land Speed records for their respective bikes.
A massive organisational effort for all the Dry Lakes Racers Australia officials and volunteers for getting the Show off the ground and for our crew members - from getting the bikes ready to setting up the Salt Monkey headquarter in the pits (that's what it feels like) to the camping set up and fully catered breakfasts and luncheons provided by the fabulous and Kathryn and helpers.
A big shout-out to Adam Verkuylen, and the Salt Monkey crew Ursula, Craig, Alice Zee, George and Matt and Laura, for serving the cold beverages at one of the most remote bars. We hope that Braden and Mandy made it home in one piece, It was painful to see the broken trailer, broken bike, broken solar systems and a very broken tent.
A big thank you to our sponsors@Prancing Pony Brewery and Right Laser Cut for their support and a massive thank you to Mt Ive Station, Gawler Ranges S.A. for making it possible for all the crazies that venture to the lake.
Our season is best told in picture, a few a missing, as Corinna's phone did not survive speed week 2025.
