Thought I’d do a little redo on this my transformation story.

What did my life look like 10 years ago?

⬛️ I was 14 stone (89kg) pretty heavy for my height - it was not muscle!!!
⬜️ Worked long hours and I mean loooooooong ass hours in a stressful desk job.
⬛️ I eat what I wanted...ALL the time with no portion control and no consideration for nutrition.
⬜️ I didn’t commit to my fitness, I talked about it a lot!! “One day I’ll get a personal trainer” “I’ll go to the gym next week”
⬛️ I didn’t want to go to the gym with people (like me now) in shape and knowing what they were doing, I was intimidated by it.
⬜️ I had no idea what I was doing with weights (never lifted one in my life) or fitness in general!
⬛️ I didn’t feel comfortable or confident in my clothes.
⬜️ I had terrible sciatica.
⬛️ My posture was awful.

What did I do to change?
🖤 I cut down my portion sizes (not crazy but stopping at the point of being full) I’ve never actually calorie counted!
🤍 I started eating more nutritious,healthy foods
🖤 I committed to going to the gym (3 times a week at first)
🤍 Hired a PT! This was the game changer for me! She kept me on track, kicked my ass when needed and introduced me to resistance/weight training! Trust me when I say I was resistant to resistance training 😄
🖤 I was consistent and focused on my goals once I started seeing results.
🤍 I didn’t give up!
it’s cliche but you need to ditch the excuses.

The benefits?
🖤 The big one for me is I never have sciatica now.
🤍 I’m fitter
🖤 I’m stronger
🤍 I’m confident in my clothes (shopaholic actually 😂) I can’t guarantee you won’t gain an activewear addiction!
🖤 I’m happy!

I know it’s not always easy to get going and change habits of a lifetime.
It took me years to take action!

GMS Fitness is me giving back 🖤🤍 I want to help you improve your health and fitness and support you the same way I was supported.
I will have your back from day one and always have a friendly ear when you need it 🖤🤍

I know taking that jump can be scary, but all the best things are!
Comment leap below 👇🏼 and I’ll get back to you or just send me a message 🖤🤍

Hey Everyone, hope you had a great weekend 🖤🤍🖤
As you now know GMS Fitness is here to support my awesome expats and create a community where we can all connect with each other.
I wanted to share my own personal story with you.
I’d love to hear about your journey so let me know all about it in the comments 🧳👇🏼

My Expat Story….

From 6 months old to 21 every summer I used to visit Rimini in Italy 🇮🇹
I fell in love with the ocean, the sun and sand beneath my feet!
For years I wanted to move away from England and have the dream of having the ocean at my door💙
However, it probably took 8 years to actually happen!!

🇦🇺 The BIG move to Aus happened in July 2018. America had been looked at but seemed to be impossible to get a visa for!
Aus though welcomed me with open arms and I must say I’m so happy it worked out that way.
The original plan was the Goldy or QL but we ended up in Torquay on the surf coast and it stole my heart 🤙🏼🏄🏻‍♂️ 🌊

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🍼 In January 2020 my wife and I moved back to England to have our little girl (Peyton Cove) around family who was born in March 2020… we didn’t know Covid was around the corner 🤦🏻‍♂️
One week after she was born England went into lockdown and the Aussies slammed the borders shut!

💔 I missed Aus every single day, it honestly broke my heart a bit and I honestly never knew if we would get back.
I wanted Pey to grow up around the ocean and have all that Aus life has to offer.

🇦🇺 To cut a very long story short we eventually got back to Aus in April 2023 🙌🏼
It felt like I’d never left! This is my home and I love it 🖤🤍🖤

I do still have a few coaching spaces left, so if you want to be coached by a fellow expat and be part of a supportive expat community… reach out.

Hey everyone, welcome to GMS Fitness 🖤🤍🖤🤍

This is my dream and putting it out there is scary!
The culmination of many months of planning, working hard behind the scenes and years in the making due to a crazy 5 years with all the below 👇🏼
* Moving back from Australia 🇦🇺 to England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
* Having a beautiful little girl
* Covid (a week later!!!)
* Being a stay at home Dad
* Moving back to Australia from England!!!

I’ve been thinking about who I’d love to help…
Of course I’m here for anyone that needs my help. I want to make a difference, so please reach out.

However, being an Expat and knowing the challenges that come with it I’ve decided my main focus will be my fellow Expats.
I want to help Expats like me stay fit and healthy in your new country and subsequently help our mental health.
Personally, I’ve found it hard to build new friendships (I’m sure I can’t be the only one) and it can feel lonely.
Therefore, I want to build a supportive expat fitness family community.
Not only can you get fit and strong but build new friendships and have fun!

There will be three types of training options available;
* Personal training from my home studio in Torquay, Vic.
* Personal Training from a state of the art gym based in Torquay.
* Online coaching.

You’ll also get access to;
* Private Facebook group for GMS Fitness clients.
* If local to Torquay area, monthly meet ups.
* Online clients will have the option of live video training (dependant on time zone)

As well as direct access to me, I’ll have your back and make sure you always feel supported 🤜🏽🤛🏽

What you need to do next?

* Please feel free to reach out directly via DM in the first instance so I can answer any questions you may have.
* If all sounds amazing then the Pre Exercise Questionnaire in my bio will need to be fully completed
* Then the fun starts and we smash your goals together 👊🏼

Let’s get it!

Before ➡️ After from last nights workout!
Rest & cheat day today but thought I’d post what I did as it’s been a while.
Weight element was solely focused on back.
12 Reps of each exercise for 4 sets each and supersetted.
🔸 Overhand cable pullovers SS with;
🔸Underhand cable pullovers (I personally find these harder)
🔸Narrow grip bench row SS with;
🔸Wide grip bench row
🔸 Stand-alone straight bar raises for fun 🤣 (barbell)
Cardio elements;
🔸 cross trainer interval sprints for 15 minutes (30 seconds on then 30 seconds off)
🔸 Stairmaster for 25 minutes
It ended up being a pretty sweaty one! Not pretty but the price you pay for results 👊🏼

Under 4 weeks to Aus🇦🇺 now 🫶🏻
Still lots going on but have a place in Torquay now! The process ain’t easy but no good things are hey.
The gym is my sanctuary as always 🤎🤎

My top 5️⃣ mental strategies to smash that workout and stay on track 👊🏼👇🏼

1️⃣ Stay focused
💪🏼 Focus on your workouts and zone out!
💪🏼 Try and save the chats and Insta for rest periods or after your workout! I know booooo!
💪🏼 Concentrate on the muscle or muscles you are working on. The mind/muscle connection is a real thing!

2️⃣ Be a bad ass and own those weights
💪🏼 Get angry with those weights and show them who’s boss! You’ll lift better I can guarantee.
💪🏼 Focus all your energy and emotions into lifting those weights. Anger,stress, frustration…. release all that out in the gym!

3️⃣ Never give up
💪🏼 Be PATIENT! You don’t get results straight away with fitness so keep going.
💪🏼 Remember why you started and don’t stop until you get what you want.
💪🏼 On the days you don’t want to go workout, make sure you do! Grit your teeth and get it done! It’ll build your mental resilience and make it easier next time.

4️⃣ Believe in yourself
💪🏼 Believe you can achieve your goals, if others can why can’t you?
💪🏼 Don’t forget to give yourself a pat on the back every now and then 🫶🏻
💪🏼 Make sure you are giving yourself positive self talk and screw the negativity!

5️⃣ Get those headphones 🎧 on and listen to some bangers!
💪🏼 My faves to name a few are Jay Z, Busta Rhymes, Lil Wayne!

Let me know if you try any below ⬇️ and what mental strategies you use if different!

Let’s go! 5 weeks to Aus!

5️⃣ ways to give you the best chance of turning fitness and those 2023 new year resolutions into a long term habit.

1️⃣ Don’t miss workouts (apart from emergencies or sickness obviously)

* This may sound obvious but when you’re starting out your brain will try and make excuses as it’s not yet a set habit. You may ache, you may feel tired as your body is adapting but the good news is… it WILL get easier!
* Be proud of yourself for going, make sure you are celebrating every workout as a win!
* Get yourself an Insta fitness account to keep yourself accountable - if you tell everyone you are going… you got to go do your thing now!

2️⃣ Keep Positive

* Not every day will feel like the best workout or you may not lose much weight (if that is your goal) but remember you are making a difference, change takes time.
* Take comparison pictures - the weight on the scales doesn’t always tell the true story.
* Get yourself a cheerleader 📣 Friend, other half or even a personal trainer/ coach to big you up! You deserve it 🙌🏼

3️⃣ Set goals and track your progress

* Goals are a great way to keep you coming back and doing that workout! They can be big or small, medium or long term. I’d suggest short term goal’s initially. Make sure you get some wins under your belt, it’s an amazing feeling to smash a goal! It could be aiming to feel and look better for a holiday or get to the gym three times a week for a month!
* Make your goals visual! Write them down in a pad, commit on your socials by telling the world or get yourself a white board and have it somewhere you can see daily!
* Track your progress. You want to see how you’re heading towards those goals right? Whether that be how far your runs have progressed, how your weights have gone up ⬆️ or how many sets you can now do. You can track through apps, your phone notes but I find physically writing it down in a pad really works.
