HBS practitioner .delange testing out the new Vector Trainer at HQ in Las Vegas.

It is not an understatement to say that this new tech will completely change the landscape of this industry. We’re very proud to be a part of this cutting edge system and excited to see how far this goes.

Repost from

Vector training course was surreal.

I hate when you guys make me cry. Seriously…

I just think of all the disappointments that people have as they get older with the world, and feel the pressure to not be one. When I see people legit enjoying what I’ve worked on and that I wasn’t a let down, it just hits me to the core.

I’m so proud of all of you and appreciate how ham you all go. This doesn’t feel real and if it turns out it never was, I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest.

As much of a pain in the ass my life has been, it would be hard to convince me that anyone is luckier than me too. I want to spread that luck.

Let’s keep going my people!

Feedback like this is why we do this. A huge thank you and shoutout to all my clients that stick with it and reap the rewards of their persistent efforts 👏👏👏

Every one of these people had come to the end of the road of traditional therapies, rehab and training only to find their problems still there, and often times worse.

At Functional Patterns we follow The SAID Principle (specific adaptation to imposed demands). This means that the demands we place on people’s bodies through our training specifically leads to adaptation in ways that improve our most basic functions; Standing, Walking, Running and throwing (The FP First 4)

The importance of the SAID principle really can’t be overlooked. Just as we may adapt to a stimulus in a beneficial way we can also Maladapt to stimuli.

An example would be cycling - so often we see clients that have come from a heavy cycling training regime only to find their glutes have almost no capacity to perform hip extension whilst their quads dominate their lower body. On top of that their gait cycle will show complete instability in their lumbar spine. We could say cycling is maladaptive as it is bio-mechanically far removed from the FP First 4 mentioned above.

The same for deadlifts, the teach the posterior chain of our body to adapt to vertical and compressive forces whilst being stuck in a 50-50 weight distribution. Walking and running rely on horizontal and parabolic forces that shift us from one foot to the other, over and over.

Traditional methods lack the specificity to teach our muscles to work together in a cohesive manner that propels us through space efficiently.

Orienting your training around improving our most basic functions is the key to long term joint health and longevity.

This is our primary objective at FP, to help people out of the maladaptive states their bodies have been accustomed, and to reestablish the functionality that millions of years of evolution had carved out for us.

***RESULTS***

From our Human Biomechanics Specialist .delange

Before:
❌ Compressed lumbar with scoliotic curve
❌ Depressed shoulders
❌ Right rib shift
❌ Anterior pelvic shift Xright foot pronation
❌ Lateral pelvic tilt
❌ Kyphosis
❌ Forward head

After:
✅ Decompressed lumbar and improved scoliotic curve
✅ Shoulder elevation, upper trap support
✅ Ribcage more centred
✅ Posterior pelvic shift
✅ Right foot supination
✅ Improved lateral pelvic tilt
✅ Thoracic extension
✅ Improved head position

Epic changes here from my client Courtney. She had a 55deg curve T6-T11 before having spinal fusion in 2002 via right thoracotomy, bringing the curve back to 7deg. A second curve developed in 2018 from T5 - L2 40deg which we can see has shown some change. With a steel rod in her t-spine we are obviously limited in how much we can change her spine, nevertheless her quality of life is improving as we move her structure closer to neutral.

Client testimonial>>>
“I’ve been training with Shane at functional patterns for 6 months now to help with my scoliosis pain. I’ve had significantly reduced levels of pain and a visibly straighter back. I look forward to making more improvements as we continue. Excellent trainer, I highly recommend@functionalpatterns for anyone wanting to improve their lives”
