Phew, been busy. Just got another 3000 covers to sort through (or will when they arrive early next week). Now i know that i said that i was aiming for 1500 eBay listings at http://stores.ebay.com.au/Commercial-Mail-Covers, but we are stuck on 150ish. It's a battle keeping that many up there as it is because sales have been so brisk. So come over and take a look and see if there is a hole in your collection that we can fill. I just paid $55 for this stamp!

Why, I hear you ask...

It is a very fine used copy of the scarce 2001 emergency printing done by Australia Post when they were running out of $1.00 International Post stamps. These have since been snapped up by collectors and there are many mint ones out there, but used copies are scarce. If you have family and friend overseas that you wrote at the time, see if they have kept any envelopes from this time and to check if they have this stamp on a cover. If they do, PM me and we'll talk....

A rare cover indeed. This cover from 1918 has a 1st issue 5c Christmas Island Cocoanut Plantations Ltd Sail Boat Mail Service stamp attached. but that is not what makes this cover so rare. It is the CDS (Circular Date Stamp) that the stamp is cancelled with. It is the rare Christmas Island Local Postage cancel where most of the value lies.
