ππββοΈ FAST PROUD: WORLD TRIATHLON CHAMPIONSHIPS GRAND FINAL πββοΈπ
We are incredibly proud to share that our FAST Senior Coach will be heading to Pontevedra, Spain, in September to officiate at the World Triathlon Championships Grand Final! πͺπΈ
Selected as one of just 40 self-funded Technical Officials from around the world, from 140 nominations, this is an incredible recognition of his 33 years of dedication to the sport of triathlon.
From 22β27 September, he will take on key roles across the Championships, including Chief Swim Official for the Elite races and Assistant Swim Official for the Age Group races.
His role will see him lead a team of six officials responsible for:
πββοΈ Monitoring the swim starts
π₯ Videoing the races
π Identifying any unsportsmanlike conduct
π Ensuring athletes complete the full swim course
π€ Supporting the delivery of a fair and safe competition for athletes from around the world
With 33 years as a Technical Official, including officiating at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, this is another incredible milestone in an already impressive officiating career.
And the journey doesn't stop there! πΊπΈ
Triathlon has now begun its two-year selection process for the 2028 LA Olympic Games, and weβll certainly be cheering him on as he hopes to earn selection for the Olympic stage.
Technical Officials volunteer their time and are not paid to officiate, meaning this passion comes with a significant personal commitment and financial investment each year.
At FAST, we are incredibly grateful for the experience, knowledge and passion he brings to our swimming community β both on pool deck as a coach and on the international stage as a Technical Official.
π Congratulations! FAST is very proud of you and weβll be following your journey to Pontevedra!
