The Mission of the

TOOWOOMBA VALLEYS RLC is:

To faithfully uphold the traditions of Toowoomba Valleys Roosters by being a leader in the development, administration, & promotion of Rugby League whilst maximising the participation, enjoyment, & success of all past & present Club Members. The Valleys Rugby League Club was formed at a meeting of breakaway Rugby Union members and supporters, led by Rangeville school teacher Mr Bob Meibush in 1919. The original club colours were red and blue stripes but problems with red dye running into blue resulted in the colours being changed to red and black. The Club’s first international player was E.S. Brown who was five-eight in the Australasian team which toured England in 1921-22. Since then the club has produced an additional 23 Australian players for a total of 24. The Club originally trained at Lindsay Street Oval (Queens Park) up until 1974. In 1965 the club obtained a 20 year lease and established club rooms under the E.S. Brown stand at Athletic Oval before purchasing ten acres of land in Pillar Street. This land was subsequently levelled in 1969 and named the Herb Steinohrt Oval. A clubhouse was built on site in 1971 and the first match played against traditional rivals, All Whites, was played in 1972. Lights were then installed in 1975 allowing for evening training to be conducted at the venue. Since establishing itself at Herb Steinohrt Oval the club has undertaken consistent improvements to the facility including clubhouse extensions and the development of a second oval, named the Mal Jamieson Oval. The Club has enjoyed considerable success throughout its history, winning 36 A Grade premierships, the most recent of which was in 2019. In addition the club has won several Reserve Grade premierships and has a very successful Under 18’s rugby league team. Toowoomba Valleys Rugby League Club enjoys success not only on the football field with talented players, but also through a loyal supporter base and dedicated volunteers. Our supporters and volunteers travel far and wide to cheer on all our teams and are always willing to assist in any way to secure our success on the field. As the only rugby league club in Toowoomba that still maintains ownership of our home grounds, we are continually seeking avenues to upgrade and maintain the facilities, and in 2008 we applied for and were granted monies to install tanks and reticulate this tank water throughout the clubhouse, therefore reducing our town water consumption and assisting in sustaining an environmentally responsible contribution towards the current water shortage in the Toowoomba Region.

2011 was ultimately the year of Valleys Roosters domination. Our First Grade team, led by coach Justin Murphy, cemented their place in history in the Toowoomba Rugby League competition by winning their 6th successive premiership title. They are the first team in the history of Toowoomba rugby league to achieve this, confirming that they are the most powerful competitors on the field.

TRL presentation night

Our U19s were officially presented with the Presidents Cup trophy, recognising a massive season from a hardworking group of young men.

Special congratulations to Jahmal Crooks, awarded U19 Top Try Scorer — a brilliant achievement and a reflection of his consistency all year.

And a big shout‑out to Wayne Gray, recognised as our Valleys nomination for Volunteer of the Year. Wayne’s dedication to our club and community is second to none.

A strong club, strong people, and a strong future.

GRAND FINAL LOCKED IN

A massive effort from our U19s today in Warwick. Taking the win in extra time in an absolute nail biter against the Gatton Hawks. The boys dug deep, held their nerve, and earned themselves a GRAND FINAL appearance.

We are all proud of this group and coach Adrian Zanette for the work they’ve put in all season, congratulations men.
