But most of all, to Toowoomba Cricket Inc.
When Tony and I came up with the idea that was the DDBBL, the TCI supported us whole heartedly. Even though there was a change in board, the support never wavered.
For Tony and I, we always said that 3 years was our limit and with "The Virus" we sort of did 3.5 years.
In our opinion, we believed it was time for someone else to take it on and add their own stamp. One thing is for certain, the period at the start of nominations through to the grand final is an intense one for us as volunteers and our families were magnificent with their support.
Over the 4 years, I have received many kind comments (and some not so kind ones). The one person that has been there with Tony and I all the way, has been Clayton Forknall. He is an absolute treasure and unsung hero of cricket in Toowoomba.

It saddens me that there is no one to take it on and run it. The TCI have done all they could to find willing volunteers, but it is what is!!
I hope that this is just a 1 year hiatus and it kicks off again in 2024.

I apologise if I have not thanked enough people, I am truly grateful for the experience.

𝐃𝐃𝐁𝐁𝐋 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 – 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

Unfortunately, due to a lack of volunteers, the difficult decision has been made to cancel the 2023 DDBBL competition. The DDBBL relies on a core team of volunteers to coordinate the competition, without which the competition is unable to proceed.

We would like to thank all sponsors, team owners, players, supporters and volunteers who have been involved with the DDBBL to date – we would not have had a competition without your support and willingness to get involved. Hopefully this is not the end of the DDBBL and perhaps in years to come there may be sufficient interest to re-establish the competition.

Are you interested in shaping the future of the premier franchise cricket competition on the Darling Downs?

The Darling Downs Bush Bash League (DDBBL) is searching for two motivated individuals to fill the roles of:
• DDBBL Media/Sponsorship Liaison
• DDBBL Player/Game Day Liaison

Working as part of a close-knit team to coordinate the 2023 DDBBL season, in these roles you will be responsible for:

𝘋𝘋𝘉𝘉𝘓 𝘔𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘢/𝘚𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘓𝘪𝘢𝘪𝘴𝘰𝘯
• Passionately promoting the competition across various media outlets and formats
• Securing sponsorship to grow the presence, reach and value of the DDBBL

𝘋𝘋𝘉𝘉𝘓 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘦𝘳/𝘎𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘋𝘢𝘺 𝘓𝘪𝘢𝘪𝘴𝘰𝘯
• Identification and attraction of talented cricketers from the local community and further abroad to take part in the 2023 DDBBL competition
• Coordination of activities on DDBBL game days to ensure everything goes off without a hitch

Both roles will work closely, in a volunteer capacity, with the DDBBL Coordinator to bring the 2023 DDBBL to life.
These roles are a great springboard for those looking to launch themselves into a career of event planning, sports management, marketing or promotions.
