Works are progressing well at the Tooradin boat ramp, after construction kicked off a month ago.

The existing ramp has been removed to make way for a new and extended three-lane concrete boat ramp. Precast panels are on site and the team is getting ready to install, which will mark a key milestone in the project.

The upgrade works also include replacing the ageing pontoons with new longer pontoons, giving boaters more space to tie up, and a widened entrance to allow two-way traffic.

Dredging the toe of the ramp is expected to begin at the end of May, with works on track for completion in September 2026.

This project is made possible through the Victorian Government’s Better Boating Fund, which reinvests boaters’ licence and registration fees into improved facilities and programs for recreational boaters across the state.

Upgrade works are underway at the popular Corinella Channel to support boaters navigating the waterway safely.

Parks Victoria began installing the navigational pylons at Corinella last week to provide safer transit for boats going in and out of the channel. The upgrade works includes the replacement of 2 channel entrance navigation marks and installation of 3 new navigation marks.

Additional navigation marks will also be upgraded in Western Port, while navigation marks that are no longer required will be removed. Works are expected to be completed in May.

The project received grant funding from Better Boating Victoria after a risk assessment and bathymetric surveys highlighted a need for enhanced aids to navigate the channel.

This project was made possible thanks to your boating licence and registration fees through the Victorian Government’s Better Boating Fund.

Parks Victoria is also finalising a project to improve the marine lanterns in Port Phillip and Western Port, with installation of satellite lanterns occurring. This ensures lanterns can be remotely monitored without reliance on cellular networks, in turn improving safety for all boaters in the area.

It’s all go at Tooradin boat ramp in Western Port where upgrade works are well underway.

Three weeks into construction, excavators are on site undertaking earthworks before the existing three-lane ramp is completely renewed. The upgraded facility will feature extended ramps, each with grooved surfaces.

The ageing pontoons will be replaced too, and made longer, so more boats can tie up while skippers park trailers.

The entrance lane is also being widened from one lane to two to help ease congestion and improve traffic flow.

Works are due for completion before snapper season kicks off in spring 2026.
