Well that’s a wrap for the 2026 Winter Snapper comp! A lot of hours put in from our members fishing this one, is definitely though going in the winter months and lots of patience involved.
Huge Congrats to Ben taking out 1st place this year with his 72cm to the fork.
Matt in 2nd not far behind with a 70cm
Max in 3rd with a 51cm

Watch this space for the 2026 whiting summer comp which will run in a similar format.

We had Chris and Beth from Better Boating join us for a chat last night at our monthly club meeting. They gave us some great insight into current projects, as well as future boating projects planned across Victoria.

We really appreciate the hard work and dedication they put into improving boating facilities and opportunities for the future.

Beth also provided us with an update on the new and improved boat ramp currently being undertaken here in Tooradin. We’re very excited to see the project completed at the end of this month and look forward to seeing the benefits it will bring to our local boating community.

Thanks again to Chris and Beth for taking the time to come down and keep us informed! 🎣

Better Boating Victoria

Western Port boaters are one step closer to enjoying the upgraded Tooradin boat ramp with works nearing completion.

All concrete panels are now in place on the three-lane boat ramp, and the floating pontoon is set to be installed in coming weeks allowing more boats to tie up.

Then minor works, such as laying down line markings, will be undertaken before the upgraded facility is reopened.

Works are on track for completion by the end of September, just in time for snapper season 🎣

Upgrades continue at Tooradin boat ramp in Western Port with contractors on site now widening the entry lane.

The existing single-lane carpark access road is being widened to reduce congestion and allow safer two-way traffic.

With all piles and 80% of the new concrete ramp panels – weighing a whooping 11 tonnes each – now installed, facility upgrades are expected to be complete in September.

Alongside the widened entrance, the new facility will include:
➡️ A new and extended three-lane concrete boat ramp with a grooved and textured surface
➡️ New and extended floating pontoons allowing more boats to tie up
