The Big Dance is calling… and our six Grand Final teams are getting ready! 🔴⚪️🔵

Come down to the G.J. Gardner Homes Australia Kennel this Thursday night for our last Thursday Night Dinner of the 2026 season and show your support as we celebrate our six teams preparing for the Grand Final and the amazing season our club has had!

ON THE MENU:

🔴⚪🔵 HAPPY FATHER’S DAY FROM THE BULLDOGS 🔵⚪🔴

To the Dads, Step-Dads, Grandads, Uncles, Foster Dads, Bonus Dads, Father Figures, and the Mums who are also filling the role of Dad - today is for you.

To the ones on the sidelines, in the coaches’ boxes and around the courts.
To those running training, kicking footys, throwing netballs and helping out behind the scenes.
To the coaches, team managers, umpires, scorers, volunteers and the ones always there for a lift, a helping hand or a word of encouragement.
Thank you for everything you do! Often quietly and without expecting anything in return, to give our kids the opportunity to play the sports they love.

Our football and netball club simply wouldn’t be the same without our Dads and Father Figures. You help build our teams, our club and, most importantly, memories that our kids will carry with them for years to come.

Today, we also hold a special place in our hearts for the Dads and Father Figures who are no longer with us. While they may not be standing on the sidelines and loudly cheering us on, their love, memories and influence remain a part of who we are.

To every Dad and Father Figure in our Bulldogs family, thank you. For showing up, backing us, teaching us, encouraging us and helping us become the people and players we are today.

We wish you all a wonderful day!

🔴⚪🔵 PRELIMINARY FINALS… WHAT A DAY! 🔵⚪ 🔴

Sandy Creek brought it ALL today.
Rain. Wind. Heavier rain. Sunshine. More rain. And just when we thought we’d seen it all… thunder and lightning to finish the day!
But through it all, the Doggies Spirit was on full display.

A massive congratulations to our Under 14’s footballers, 15 & Under netballers and C Grade netballers, who fought hard and earned their spot in next weekend’s Grand Finals.
What an achievement!

Our C-Reserve netballers took on Chiltern in incredibly wet conditions and gave absolutely everything they had. Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite their day, but they should be incredibly proud of their 2026 season.

Our Reserves also battled through the elements, taking the field in pouring rain and fighting until the final siren. They left nothing out there, but unfortunately couldn’t take the win.

To every player who pulled on the Doggies uniform today - you put your heart, soul and bodies on the line. You represented Thurgoona with pride, determination and that unmistakable Doggies Spirit.
We are proud of you all.

And now… THE BIG DANCE AWAITS!

Next weekend, our 13 & Under, 15 & Under, C Grade & B Grade netballers, along with our U14 & U17 footballers, will pull on the Doggies uniform one last time this season.

One more game.

One more chance.

One BIG opportunity to bring home the premiership! 🏆

The week ahead is going to be busy and exciting as our Grand Final teams prepare for the biggest games of their seasons.
The club is absolutely BEAMING with pride and excitement.

Tomorrow, the Bulldogs head out to Sandy Creek with FIVE teams ready to battle it out for their spot in the Big Dance next weekend!
Our teams are locked in, the players are ready and the Doggies Spirit is alive and well.

Our Under 14’s footballers are first to take the field, starting at 9:15am, followed by 15 & Under netballers, C-Reserve, C Grade and Reserves.

We want to see the Bulldogs faithful out in force! Come on out to Sandy Creek, get behind our teams and make some noise!

🔴⚪🔵 V-LINE CUP CARNIVAL SELECTION 🔵⚪🔴

Congratulations to our Female Footballers Emily Browne and Bianca Perri, who have both been selected in the 2026 V-Line Cup Carnival Squad!

The girls will travel to Gippsland from 21-23 September to play.

A fantastic achievement and one that is very well deserved after a terrific season from both Emily and Bianca.

Congratulations girls! We’re incredibly proud of you both.

Well done to all of our Junior Bulldogs who were nominated and tried out for selection. It’s fantastic to see so many of our young players putting themselves forward, representing our club and experiencing a higher level of football.

Good luck in Gippsland Bianca & Emily! Go well and enjoy the experience!

This week the BBQ will be fired up for Thursday Night Dinner, with burgers, sausages, coleslaw and chips on the menu.

This will be our second last Thursday Night Dinner for the season - so come down and enjoy dinner at the Kennel.

Junior Dinner served from 6pm.

🔴⚪️🔵 SENIOR FOOTBALL COACHING ANNOUNCEMENT 🔵⚪️🔴

We are thrilled to introduce Kyle Docherty as our Senior playing coach for the 2027 and 2028 TDFL seasons.

We are also beaming with excitement to announce Mat Howard will be joining Kyle as playing Assistant Coach.

Kyle joins us after spending the previous 4 seasons as Playing Coach of Hume League Club CDHBU, having taken the Senior side to finals in each of those seasons and receiving Coach of the Year honours in 2024. A passionate and dedicated mentor with a focus on player relationships and getting the best out of his group, Kyle has also proven to be a leader with strong awareness and appreciation for country sport, family and community. Values that are the foundation of the Thurgoona Football & Netball Club.

Mat is well known to the Bulldog faithful, having served as Senior Captain for the 2026 season and playing over 90 Senior games since he and his family arrived at the Kennel in 2021. A highly respected leader on and off the field, Howie's elevation into our coaching ranks is recognition for his selfless, Club first attitude and connection with not just our Senior playing group but all members of our Bulldog community.

We are looking forward to welcoming Kyle, his wife Renee, and children Freddie, Lou and Rose to the Kennel, and know that our Thurgoona community will give them our full support.
