After a successful 2026 season and a senior player group more connected than ever before, we are pumped to get our trials rolling and strengthen the Web🕸️

Next season will also see the re-introduction of our Waratah Under 20’s teams for both men and women, providing even more playing opportunities for our senior players💪

Is your school interested in participating in our 2026 Gala Day? 🏀

HKBA is inviting primary schools to join us for our annual Basketball Gala Day for Stage 2 and Stage 3 boys’ and girls’ teams.

Students will take part in basketball games, cheer on their classmates, and experience a day designed to build confidence, teamwork, and school spirit👏

HKBA provides the courts, officials, administration, and game management so schools can simply show up and play.

All you have to do is register, bring your shoes, and get ready for a fun day on the court!

HKBA Rising Referees Program 🏀

HKBA are thrilled to announce our Rising Referees Program in partnership with I AM A GIRL!

The program is led by Senior referee Zeinab Haji Abolhasani and takes a holistic approach to your refereeing journey including building skills, confidence and a sense of community. With ongoing mentorship and social events that bring girls together, you’ll grow far beyond the basics and feel part of something bigger 🙌

If you are interested in beginning your referee journey or have just started, this is the perfect program for you!

The program will run from October-December 2026 and include:

• Referee education and training
• Ongoing female mentorship
• Support on and off the court
• Free referee handbook (how-to guide), whistle & referee shirt
• Development opportunities
• Social events

The Association is proud to continue supporting the development and connection of our female refereeing community and can’t wait to see the girls thrive in this new learning environment 🩷

Congratulations to our Spiders who are representing NSW Metro at the Southern Cross Challenge (SCC)! 🕷️🏀

The SCC provides top junior players the opportunity to compete against squads from other States in Australia.

This is a significant achievement and we are so proud to have Leighton representing U14G NSW Metro, as well as Oliver and Luke representing U14B NSW Metro 💙

Leighton, Oliver and Luke will head to Melbourne in January 2027 to compete in the tournament.
