This Saturday marks a historic day for Gaelic games in Tasmania as we kick off Round 1 of the inaugural Tasmanian Gaelic Football State League! For the first time ever, the island is home to two clubs, Hobart Harps and Launceston Gaels, allowing us to bring local Gaelic football competition to life.

We’re also delighted to welcome Buck Eejit Games as the official sponsor of the 2025/2026 State Association and our brand-new State League.

Buck Eejit Games, currently developing a Gaelic football video game for consoles, has strong ties to Tasmania and the Hobart Gaelic community. The founder, Peadar McMahon shared this message ahead of the inaugural tournament:

"I'm thrilled that Buck Eejit Games is sponsoring the Tasmanian Gaelic Football and Hurling Association and its inaugural Gaelic football state league. Tasmania is a home away from home for me. My dad lived there for 13 years, I’ve visited more than half a dozen times, and Hobart is the only place outside Ireland I could ever see myself settling. With TGFHA already hosting a cup in my dad's memory, it means a lot to keep this support in the family. I’ve many friends and family in Hobart, and with Launceston now in the fold I can’t wait to get back over and celebrate how far the association has come.

Buck Eejit Games is building a Gaelic football video game, so this sponsorship feels natural. We're able to back the growth of the sport in a place I care deeply about while creating something that reflects that connection. Supporting TGFHA and its new league is a meaningful way to give back to the community that has welcomed me, and to champion the sport that inspires the game we're working on every day. Check out one of our very own footballers Arran Hansen who is heading into week 2 of ParaRoos trials.

Selected athletes will have a chance to play soccer in National representative team later in the year.

We hope that there is a place for you either on the field of play or off the field in one of many important roles.
