Our focus is on supporting you… even if you have pain and limited movement. We know and understand the complexities of the body and nervous system. If you are experiencing pain, it is exacerbated when you're stressed and anxious, which causes more pain, more stress, more anxiety... and a vicious cycle begins.

We've got your back... We are here to reassure you that your body can seek out supportive movement given the right guidance and that you can become capable to move through this. We will support you to get back your movement, to build confidence in your body and to challenge your limitations.

As the long weekend approaches I am looking forward to taking some time out. Time out to just be... breathe, stretch, move slowly and be present.

Modern life asks a lot of us: mentally, emotionally and physically and . It can become overwhelming, tiring and draining. That makes long weekends even more special and welcomed.

Less tension.
More awareness.
More ease.

Stress at work or at home? Trouble sleeping?  Longer than usual hours at a desk to get work done, more time on devices.....

Stress at work or at home? Trouble sleeping? Longer than usual hours at a desk to get work done, more time on devices... it all can add up, and you might one day wake up and find that your neck has gone into spasm and you have pain and restricted movement.

What to do? Usually if we find ourselves in this situation it's probably been brewing for a while, and a seemingly insignificant movement can cause a freeze in the system. It needs time to settle.

Give yourself a check in and see if you can add some relief. A heat pack, some pain relief or anti-inflammatories and rest. Then it's probably time for an osteo appointment, physio or remedial massage. You need to give your pain some help and that's where a practitioner will help with perspective, support and hands on relief.

Then, this is where Pilates can help.

💙 If the neck is feeling not ready to move, there are other ways we can release the system, working down the body to help understand where other tension might be held in the body.

Each mat class at Arc Pilates is thoughtfully crafted to engage and nurture every part of your body. We begin with breath awareness, a cornerstone of Pilates that helps release tension, reveal holding patterns and even support your immune system.

They are designed for everyone from beginners exploring the basics to advanced students ready for a challenge. We focus on improving mobility, core stability and flexibility.

I've recently read The Hidden Spring: A Journey to the Source of Consciousness, a book by Mark Solms 📖

It's really challenged me to step outside of the physical and exercise focus and venture into the hypothesis about how we became conscious and how our brain, and what’s going on in our body, develops messages within our body and brain system.

If you're a deep thinker and enjoy delving into the workings of the brain, I highly encourage you to read this.
