Grandmaster Jung Myung Oh, has been granted the rare honour of a Kukkiwon 10th Dan for his massive contribution to Taekwondo in Australia.

As someone who practised the art from 1953 at Jidokwan until 2023, which is a total of 70 years, and taught for 46, & considering his absolute dedication to his art: this is very well deserved.

He is the first Australian and one of less than 20 people ever who have received this prestigious honour.

We are all so proud of you, and what a legacy you leave behind. Thank you from all of your thousands of students over the last 5 decades for everything.

For anyone who would like to attend and pay their respects to the late GM Jung Myung Oh.

Goodbye to the influential, pioneering, wise, kind man, my instructor Grandmaster Jung Myung Oh. He was like a father to many of us, gave us support and taught us many aspects of martial arts. He was highly skilled in Tae Kwon Do (Jidokwan), Hapkido and weaponry. I studied with him in 1996-1997, firstly. Then under his student Costa Pappas for four years. And then back with Master Oh from 2014-2020.

It is a shock that he has now passed on and I feel a bit confused and most of all hope he is at peace and not suffering. He was a Taekwondo and life father and mentor to many, and taught and grades thousands of students from 1974-2020, with countless clubs in Melbourne's northern suburbs (Thomastown, Preston, Heidelberg, Fawkner, Sunbury, Broadmeadows, Craigieburn, Mill Park, Heidelberg).

He was a student of GM Lee Chong Woo, co-founder of Jidokwan, and was a 9th Dan black belt since 2008. Master Oh was a school teacher and taught Legal studies and humanities in Korea before coming to Australia.

I wish his family & all former students my sincere condolences and hope he is at peace and didn't suffer.
