A big congratulations to two of our young guns Hudson Elze and Riley Knapp for winning the IHSA A-Grade championship. Not only were they in the winning team but played a huge part in the championship. Riley was the MVP of the decisive final game after letting in only one goal in the game while Hudson was one of the leagues top scorers all season and getting an assist on the championship winning goal.

Also a big congratulations to Elana Holub and Anika Wegund for having successful season with the runner ups Falcons. Anika playing her first season in seniors showed everyone what she could do and Elana kept on her impressive form which has earned her a call up to the Australian Women’s National Team.

One of us!!! One of us!!!! ONE OF US!!!!! Congratulations to Anika Wegund for this recognition. And the best is yet to come!!!!!

Last season, Anika Wegund, 14, made the cut for the U18 world women’s team and debuted in the national league. Earlier this year, she scored 2 goals and assisted another in the Boxall Trophy.

The South Australian started out in dance and ballet but switched to the local ice hockey team. She joined the state team at 9 and then the U12 Australian All-Stars Team, where she earned MVP of the bronze medal game in Singapore. She also won gold with the U14 team, training six times a week.

Anika has hopes of being an international ice hockey coach and now joins a long line of aspiring champions awarded the Australian Women's Ice Hockey League Rookie of the Year—the most outstanding first-year player under 20.
