🎉 CLUB SHOUT OUT | AUSTRALIAN OPEN BOWLS 2026 🎉

Another big week on the greens for our Tewantin Noosa Bowls Club representatives competing at the Australian Open Bowls on the Gold Coast. Here’s how our players fared in lawn bowls action:

🔹 Men’s Singles – Post-Sectional Knockouts (Saturday):
• Simon Wood opened strongly with a dominant 21–7 win, before bowing out in a tight second match.
• John Simmonds had a great early lead but was unfortunately forced to retire with a hamstring injury. We wish John a speedy recovery.

🔹 Open Men’s Pairs – Post-Sectional Knockouts (Monday):
• Tony McAnelly & Scott Roney started superbly with a 19–9 win, then went down 12–20 against Ben Twist & Aaron Wilson.

🔹 Over 60’s Men’s Pairs
• Mark Walker & Andy House
• Jeff Coleman & Nat Black
• John Spiteri & Paul Schofield
All recorded wins in round matches but didn’t quite take out their sections.
• Ricky Holt & Kevin Chiller had a terrific campaign, winning their section before a nail-biting 14–15 loss in their post-sectional match.

🔹 Men’s Fours
• A standout performance from Mark Torrens, who won two post-sectional games and advanced to the 3rd round of the knockout stage. Mark led superbly in the fours while representing the Sunshine Coast — an outstanding effort on the big stage 👏

🔹 Ladies Events
• Bronwyn Torrens continued her strong form, reaching the last 16 in Ladies Fours and the last 64 in Ladies Singles.

It was fantastic to see so many Tewantin Noosa members playing, supporting, and cheering each other on throughout the Australian Open lawn bowls festival. A huge congratulations to everyone involved — the club is incredibly proud 💙💛🏆

Huge congratulations and best wishes to our incredible players from Tewantin Noosa Bowls Club who are proudly representing the club at the Australian Open Bowls on the Gold Coast – the largest and most prestigious lawn bowls event in the world 🌏

The 2026 Australian Open runs from Friday 5 June to Friday 19 June, featuring thousands of competitors across 18 disciplines and an impressive prize pool. It’s fantastic to see our members competing on this stage!

👏 Current Results & Highlights:

🥇 Singles
• John Simmonds – Section winner, defeating recent State Singles winner Chris Rosanes
• Simon Wood – Section winner (3–0)
• Bronwyn Torrens – Section winner
➡️ All three progress to post-sectional play on Saturday / next week
