After a long journey home, we’re happy to report a great day of racing on Sunday of the Hanseatic Watersports Festival. With more sun and less wind, conditions were ideal for great spectating and fast racing.
Once again Steve Davis was the first American on the water in the highly competitive Senior race. Steve pulled off a 3rd for the day and 4th for the weekend. Congratulations to the overall winner for the Seniors division, James Allen (GB).
Next up were the Men, with Todd Haig and Ryder Tovat once again turning in consistent results in F1. Todd held off a midrace charge by Lachlan Nix (Aus) to finish 3rd on the day and 2nd for the weekend. Ryder finished strong with a 5th on Sunday, and due to his consistency, 3rd overall for the weekend. Congratulations to Cameron Nix (Aus), Men’s F1 winner Sunday, and to Aiden Cuff (Aus) who finished 2nd on Sunday and was the Men’s F1 winner for the weekend.
In Men’s F2, Ty Cheshier and Cameron King had strong finishes in a big field. Ty settled into 3rd position early in the race, and thanks to a big push late in the race he finished only 6 seconds behind 2nd. Racing to the end meant Ty finished 2nd in Men’s F2 for the weekend. Cameron turned in a consistent 4th on the day, and 7th overall after a DNF on Saturday. Congratulations to Daryl Tyndall (GB) on a dominant performance winning both days and the Men’s F2 division for the weekend.
Last race on the water was Open/Mens F3. After scratching on Saturday Ty decided to lay it all out in the Open category for the final race of the weekend. Skiing behind Randy and Dennis with 191, Ty turned in a great result finishing 2nd to Lachlan Nix.
After a slow start Jordan King fought his way into 2nd position, but he was unable to catch the eventual winner for the day and the weekend, Michel Forstel (Austria). Matching his Saturday result, Jordan finished 2nd in Men’s F3 for the weekend.
Congratulations to all of the skiers for a great weekend of racing. Thank you to our drivers (Randy Davis, Michel Fobelets, Steve Davis, Alfredo Alongi, Greg Bassam) and observers (Dennis Hall, Wesley Jolling, Chris Cole, Mike King) from home and abroad for keeping our skiers safe.
I think it’s safe to say the US skiers had a great time, and I’m sure we’ll see more participating at the Hanseatic Watersports Festival in the years to come!
