Two Chris's went the [market] State.
Unfortunately one Chris "Lockie " Lock had to retire with an injury. The other Chris "froglet" Sefton went on to glory.
Here's what Lockie had to say-

State LC Championships this year had a whopping 388 swimmers hit the pool this weekend!
The previous record was 383 set 20 years ago in 2006!

Both Christine Sefton and I entered five individual events each over the weekend.
Christine had an absolutely outstanding meet—five terrific swims resulting in 4 gold medals, along with 2 personal bests and 2 very close PBs. A fantastic effort!

Her events were:

200m Freestyle
100m Breaststroke
50m Freestyle
200m Breaststroke
50m Breaststroke

After her Sunday morning 200m Breaststroke (another gold!), Christine summed it up perfectly:
"I was exhausted… legs, arms, lungs burning."
…which I think we can all agree is the sign of a job very well done!

As for me… well, I managed a perfect taper—just unfortunately a bit too perfect. The night before the meet I re-ruptured a healing skin tear on my leg, which ruled me out of both racing and the Masters Swimming NSW dinner (clearly my body decided rest was more important than either swimming or socialising!).

So no pool time for me this year—but I did at least get to practice my spectating skills.

Oh well… always next year—hopefully with less drama and more swimming!

We Got Wet at Gosford
A ray of sunshine upon arriving at Gosford had us reaching for our Gosford Seagulls bucket hats but unfortunately it was short lived . A creative and thoroughly thought- out return to racing at Gosford pool was going swimmingly, when amidst the first of the 100m relays, a massive afternoon storm drew the carnival to a premature close.
We sported a team of 7 with 6 swimming. Weirdly- given we hardly practice them -we all chose 200m events.
Highlights were:- Walters first epic 200m Breaststroke; Lockie returning to competition, giving 200m/100m Free a red hot go; Christine had those who hadn't seen her swim before going- "how does she do that?? ". Another exhibition of effortless speed ; Linda smashed her 200 heat by a lap and posted the fastest time for her age group, she was closest to the pin on her 100 time; Steve Rees managed a sweet 200 free with ticking off his chief timekeeper proficiencies : Col kept all our ducks in a row as club captain designate for the day ( I think he'll be itching to give it up for a swim at our meet though). I got past the flags on my breastroke turn😜.
Onwards and upwards -well give it another go next year. Thanks Gosford.
