Fourteen of us had a great weekend away in Tea Gardens, swimming at the Mayall Masters BPS. It was so good to have so many new (ish) Sandberners join us. Sue, Jubal, Tess, Peter, Cynthia, and the two Judys doubled our number to 14, doubled our points, and doubled our fun!
We finished in 5th place in a field of 23 clubs.
Congrats to Slider who topped his age group with 39 points and Ronnie just one point behind. Race of the day was the 25 free, with the big match up between Ron and Al, in adjoining lanes. Ronnie got there by a finger nail!
After two swim meetings, Campbelltown and Myall Lake, Sutherland Sandbern Masters are third on 689 points in division one!
Now, if we can just encourage a few club stalwarts back to Masters Swimming, we'll really give the big clubs a fright!
Can't wait for the next carnival. 🏊‍♂️🍺🥂😁

As usual we had a great day at SOPAC yesterday for the State Relays Day.
We finished 7th out of 17 clubs. But more to the point, we had a lot of fun and finished the day with an excellent team dinner at Club on East.
Snowy took the opportunity to bring along the Club Trophies for 2022 which were presented to some very deserving swimmers.
Massive thanks to Ron and Snowy for organising and entering our teams in the "new system" - to Col for managing the team on the day and to Snowy for trawling through mountains of stats to ascertain the trophy winners, for organising the inscriptions of same and delivering them is pristine condition for presentation.
And special thanks to all 20 swimmers who made it such a great day and night. It was particularly pleasing to welcome new members Sue Cohen, Jubal Cooper and Cynthia Diemer who were participating in their first carnival. It was also great to have Helen Mall, her sister Sue Boye and Sue Bell swimming with us. We look forward to seeing them all at many more events in the future.
Can't wait for the next one.

Congratulations to our team of 16 swimmers who performed so well at SOPAC on the weekend in the State LC Championships. Thanks to Ronnie for the following report:

"Good morning here are the results over the weekend 280 men's free 2nd
160 mixed medley 6th
280 mixed medley 6th
160 men's medley 4th
200 women's medley 3rd
120 mixed free 3rd
240 mixed free 1st
Total point score we finished 8th overall and we come 2nd in group 2
We had 16 swimmers over the weekend we had a total of 512 points"

Hopefully a summary of individual results will come through to us soon.

I'm sad to report that long time member Col Stanford has decided to hang up his racing togs. At 84 the long drive from the bush is losing its appeal. Col and Robin have been very popular members and Cols contributions to Sandbern's points have always been valuable and very welcome. We'll all miss you both and hope to see you again sometime, somewhere.

Congratulations to our Pan Pac Team who have returned home with a swag of medals of all colours. The weather was good, accommodation great, swimming excellent, but best of all was the company. As usual we had an awesome time. Special thanks to Ronnie for his organisation of our teams and to Dredgie, Al, Col and Sue for organising, preparing and cooking our team dinner. Now the talk has turned to next year including Tea Gardens, Hobart, Cairns and definitely Alice Springs. Can't wait!!

Big Bad Bert Laurendet, Club Legend, has turned 90! Well done to Graham Mundey who organised and presented Bert with a card on behalf of the club.
Bert and Kaye were among the first members of Sandbern back in the mid 90's. I don't have any amazing stats on hand unfortunately, but Bert earned Club Legend long ago with his many exploits in and out of the water. Congratulations Bert on behalf of all your Sandbern friends and fans!
