Taylors Lakes Football Club

Taylors Lakes Football Club Social media hub for the Taylors Lakes Football Club The league was at first apprehensive.

The concept of a Taylors Lakes Football Club came to fruition during 1989 with discussions taking place between members of the Taylors Lakes Recreation Club and other local identities. In 1990 the club fielded an Under 10 and Under 12 team in what was then the OPJSFL, soon to amalgamate with the EDFL. The teams, with great assistance from our first major sponsors, John and Sandra Zystra, (who contributed much to many of the teams to follow), played their first games at Pascoe Vale in front of many a watchful eye. During that same year a submission was made to the Essendon District Football League to allow us to field Under 14s in season 1991. A policy existed requiring clubs to field teams in every grade of the competition. The league finally decided to affiliate Taylors Lakes under a new “Growth Policy”, requiring us to enter higher grade teams every second year in age group order. However, the club grew exponentially and by 1993 was fielding teams in every age group including the Seniors B Division. Since that time the club has continued to grow and until 2004 fielded second teams in each age group from Under 10s to Under 14s. 2005 saw the entry of a second Under 16 team. In 2010, the club celebrated its 20th Anniversary year in spectacular style with both Senior teams playing Pascoe Vale in the Grand Final in front of packed grand stands at Windy Hill. The Reserves went down in their first loss for the season and the Seniors WON the EDFL B Grade Premiership over much fancied Pascoe Vale with a very healthy final margin. It was an excellent result from a team made up of high percentage of home grown Taylors Lakes players, many of whom have played all or most of their Junior football with the Club since Under 10′s.

We are saddened by the passing of Martin Brown.

Fondly known around the club as 'Marty', he was a stalwart who was always cheerful and just genuinely happy to be surrounded by all of his mates.

Marty became part of our family almost twenty years ago when his son, Matt, started playing junior football here - and while Matt no longer plays for us, Marty remained.

Our Friday nights won't be the same without you Marty - you will be missed.

Sending our condolonces to all of Martin's family and friends at this sad time.

💛💙

SOS IS BACK FOR 2027!

We’re thrilled to announce that Sarah Sullivan, aka SOS, has re signed and will be back in the gold and blue in 2027💛💙

After playing her 150th game for Taylors Lakes this year at just 20 years old, Sarah is a true Taylors Lakes original and an important part of our women’s program.

2026 was a breakout year for SOS, both on and off the field. She stepped into a leadership role and has become a highly respected and valued member of our playing group.

One of Sarah’s greatest strengths is her versatility. She has the ability to play wherever the team needs her and is always willing to take on whatever role is asked of her. This year saw her spend increased game time in the ruck, once again showing her ability to adapt, compete and put the team first.

Her work ethic, toughness and team first attitude make her a huge asset to our side, and we can’t wait to see #26 back out there in 2027.

Now let’s get to know SOS a little better…

💛What made you re sign?
“I re signed because of my love for the club and my team. I’ve never met a better bunch of girls. Even after losing every game, we all stuck together. I think we have something really special going for us.”

💙Biggest footy ick?
“Socks up to the knees… sorry, I just can’t do it!”

💛Pre game meal?
“I usually don’t eat before games because I get so nervous… occasionally you’ll catch me with a blue V or VB instead.”

💙What can we expect from you in 2027?
“During the off season I plan to train a lot more. I want to be fitter and stronger for the 2027 season so I can play a bigger role through the midfield.”

We can’t wait to see what 2027 brings for SOS.

Today is R U OK? Day - but any day is a good day to ask.

You might be surprised to learn that many people underestimate the power of an R U OK? Conversation.

Research shows that a third of people don’t realise the difference they can make by checking in with someone they care about despite the fact that 9 in 10 of those who were asked, ‘are you OK?’, report feeling grateful, cared about, and supported.

We also know 1 in 4 people might hesitate to ask even when they think someone is struggling. That's why we're reminding everyone that if someone's on your mind, trust your instinct and start a conversation.

If you’re thinking it, Ask R U OK? Any Day because what people value most is trust, a sense of genuine care, and someone who really listens to them, without judgement.

Ask R U OK? Any Day because a conversation could change a life.
