A Short History
It isn’t possible to pin point exactly how old the cricket club is as it had already been formed prior to the first newspaper being printed in Tatura. In October of the first year of publication, 1880, the Tatura newspaper at the time commented on a meeting that was held at Walshes’ Hotel to re-organise the Cricket Club, thus making the club well over 100 years old. It was not until the early 1900s that an organised competition began which was called the Goulburn Valley Cricket Association. Tatura’s first premiership came in the 1907/8 season. At that time the competition was played along the English system of having no Finals and the premier team was the one that finished on top of the ladder. The Tatura side actually went through the season undefeated. Tatura won another premiership in the GVCA in 1911/12 before the formation of the Shepparton Cricket Association in the 20s, Tatura won three premierships in the SCA in the 30s. Following the second World War Tatura played in the SCA until the formation of the Tatura Cricket Association in 1950. Over the years the Tatura association comprised of teams from Dhurringile, Harston, Ardmona, NW Mooroopna, Arcadia, Toolamba, two sides from Murchison and two from Tatura. The Tatura sides were initial called the A’s and B’s with the B’s later renamed the Colts. Both sides were actually the one club however there was a fierce rivalry between the two. The Tatura sides dominated the competition through to its end in 1965 with the A’s winning 7 premierships and the colts two. The A’s actually won six in a row from 1951 through to 1957 with Jack King the captain of all 7 premierships. Tatura joined The Kyabram District Cricket Association in the 1965/66 season and won its first A grade premiership in 1968/69. Since then the club has won another six A Grade premierships, 3 A Reserve, 4 B Grade, 1 B Reserve and 8 junior premierships. The last senior premiership was A Grade in 1997/98. The 2006/2007 season saw the Tatura Cricket Club join Cricket Shepparton in all grades after a 40 year association with the Kyabram and District Cricket Association

Tatura won its first Shepparton premiership in 2009/10 with the U17s bringing home the flag.

🏏NEW PLAYER SIGNING🏏

Tatura Cricket Club would love to announce the addition of Krrish Patel for the 2026/27 season.

Krrish currently plays for Fairnsfield CC in England, where our boy Michael Archer played a couple seasons ago. He has also represented Nottinghamshire at under 18 level. He’s an accurate off-spinner and a dynamic batsman who we’re excited to have over here.

We wish Krrish and Fairnsfield Cricket Club the best of luck for this upcoming season and can’t wait to have him join us this upcoming season!

🏏CLUB COACH AND A GRADE CAPTAIN FOR SEASON 2026/27🏏

We love to proudly announce that Daniel Coombs has been re-appointed as club coach for the 2026/27 season. Coombsy’ has been a consistent performer on field and a great leader off field with the development of our young talent featuring Baxter Plunkett, Tanner Miller and Jack Mahoney playing A Grade as teenagers this season.

Jayden Armstrong is set to be our A Grade captain for a 6th season this year. Jayden’s coming off a great year with bat and ball, was also our Under 16’s coach this year.

Both guys have been working on recruiting
for next season and we’ll be announcing a new player to our club this afternoon.

🤩THANKYOU KIRAN GREEN🤩

Today we see our overseas players Kiran Green fly back home. Kiran’s been a fantastic addition to the Tatura Cricket Club on and off field. A classy top order batsman with important knocks during the season, Kiran was also so appreciated off field for how respectful he was around the club.

Kiran will be forever welcome back at Tatura Cricket Club if the opportunity comes again, and we’ll definitely be keeping an eye to see how he goes back home for Shelley CC. Go well mate and thankyou again!

Senior Finals next weekend and we have two sides involved

B Grade will be facing Northerners at Tallgaroopna

D Grade will take on Karramomus at Tatura Park

A Grade missed finals by the slimmest margin finishing on the same points as Nagambie but missed out on percentage

E Grade in their first season also finished one place out of finals.

A very good result all round. Let’s all get to training this week and support the teams in finals.
