Common Opal from Amador county CA, from Eck Noch. For those who are not sure of their Pareidolia skills I have included copies of each of these two examples with the characters outlined. In each case an otherwise scenic picture has been photo - bombed.

The round cabs are cut for commercial settings at 30mm diameter. The teardrop is more like 60mm long. These are a varied mix from Corop with chert and calcite in different mixes with multiple mineral inclusions. If you can't see the picture message for an outline. Perhaps message some of your own for display.. Enjoy the pareidolia.

Had news last week that my favorite quarry is closed to fossicking due to OHS managers higher up in the merged company. Luckily I have several years worth of slabs and rough to cut. Pity as the material always changed as the layers went deeper, and I enjoyed showing others around the place. At least I have a written/ photographic record, and will now update my booklet for a final edition eventually. I have picked out some images here. You may find more.
