Not every emotion is a sign that something needs fixing.
We live in a culture that values action, solutions and productivity.
So when we feel uncomfortable emotions like anger, frustration, disappointment, sadness or overwhelm, our instinct is often to immediately focus on fixing the situation that’s causing them.
But emotions aren’t problems to solve.
They’re information to pay attention to.
When we constantly bypass, suppress or distract ourselves from what we’re feeling, those emotions don’t simply disappear. They often remain beneath the surface and show up later as resentment, anxiety, overwhelm, irritability or emotional reactivity.
Sometimes the most supportive thing we can do is pause.
To notice what we’re feeling.
To acknowledge it.
To allow it.
Because emotions are designed to be felt and processed, not pushed away.
The ability to sit with what we’re feeling isn’t something many of us were taught.
It’s a practice.
One that can transform the way we relate to ourselves, our emotions and the challenges we’re navigating.
