Emerging basketball talent, Mariah Radburn, is set to wave the flag for the Taree Tornadoes in the U14 girls division of the Basketball NSW ‘D- League’
This is a feather in the cap of Mariah’s basketball development as she has been identified following performances with the Taree Tornadoes in the Waratah Junior Leagues conducted by Basketball NSW.
Selection to participate in the ‘D-League’ is a major achievement as only the top 16 players from Country NSW and the top 16 players from Metro NSW are invited and Mariah will be one of the youngest participants to weave her magic in the ‘D-League’ competition.
On top of this, Mariah has also been selected to attend the 10th Pacific School Games in Adelaide, in December this year.
The 10th Pacific School Games is one of the world’s biggest school sport events and it is anticipated that approximately 4,000 competitors aged between 10 to 19 years from at least 30 countries, including teams from all Australian States and Territories, will attend.
It is an all-inclusive event which will be conducted in various age groups and categories in the sports of Swimming, Diving, Touch Football, Softball, Football (Soccer), Primary Basketball, Golf, Netball, Hockey, Primary Track and Field, as well as Goalball for the visually impaired and Mariah will be a member of the NSW Primary School girl’s basketball team.
Tickets for a raffle with five prizes are on sale at Saxby’s Stadium in Taree to help defray the cost of Mariah’s participation in Adelaide and may be purchased at $2.00 each or $100.00 for books of fifty (50) tickets.
