Had a campfire discussion recently regarding how much gas we consume and how much we take on board.
Always had 9kg as they came with the camper. Two
Don't have a gas fridge anymore, installed compressor fridge years ago.
So inside gas hotplates, exterior Ziggy and Joolca hotty.
Takes quite some time to use a 9kg.
Why Carry all that extra weight when it's not really necessary.
So.... downsizing to the 4kg. So much smaller and lighter.
Will also free up room in the front storage box for other "stuff".
What's everybody doing with their front storage area?

What's your go to method of lowering your campers corner jacks?
By manual wind, cordless drill, impact driver or rattle gun?
Can be contentious depending on time of day or night with use.😉

Had a great couple of days and nights away at Jones camping reserve near Tatong, Benalla region.
Rain on Sunday morning, so was a moist pack up.
Nice lunch at the Tatong pub, thanks Jen.
A nice roast lamb dinner Saturday night went down with some Pinor.
Great spot divided into large sections that could fit a few vans in each.
Great long drops and firewood about
Creek was low but running well.
Is a seasonal closure site.
We were the only ones there.
No phone service.

What's better than a Goldstream Crown in the shed?
Why, 2 of course.
My 2008 at the back and a client's 2007 in the foreground.
Just finished doing a Jacka upgrade.
Ready for collection in the coming days.
I reckon I could fit at least one more!
Gotta luv a Crown.
😁😁😁😁

Part way through another Jacka install. Also today will be doing Jackamasts also.
07 Crown in great condition.
Rob and Michelle luv their Crown as we ours.
Great rigs for a couple plus fur baby.
Lift system will give them total piece of mind and far easier set ups.
No more 61 cranks of the hand winch.😉😉👍👍.
Happy camping.

Hope everyone has a great Easter. We stayed home for a change and got some time in the workshop.
Been too warm till now.
The future for all of us looks a little different than what we are used to.
I'm still tinkering as always with the trialling of ideas.😉😉
I still have a few irons in the fire regarding Jacka systems and Jackamasts.
Travel may not be possible as the cost of fuel rises.
Of course I'm always open to doing upgrades at home as usual.
I can travel, but there will be extra costs involved.
Stay happy and keep our fingers crossed for the future.
It does look a bit scary.

Went for a look at the Wodonga Caravan Show yesterday.
A lot smaller than previous years.
The usual suspects of blocks of flats, lots of hybrids but a shrinking number of camper trailers.
Goldstream are no longer making the wind up campers.
They are expensive to manufacture.
So those of us that have them, value should hold if not eventually increase. Who knows.
Got free tickets from the local radio station which was nice. Only there an hour and a half.
Very little in the way of accessories which was very evident.
Saw a lot of manufacturers that I've never heard of, so there's lots to choose from.
Overall quality I thought was really good.
Average family vans, single axle were starting at around $60k.
Two manufacturers that I was impressed with were, Goldfields Caravans, Maryborough Victoria and Stoney Creek Caravans, Frankston Victoria.
It was very quiet with very few people about. Depends on who you spoke to, but some said it had been slow, others good.

Just home from our trip to install 2 Jacka systems.
Both with lift system and Jackamasts.
One a 2024 Swan, the other a 2007 Swan.
Vast differences in build and condition, naturally.
But both ended up working perfectly.
Apart from that was the big bonus of travelling and camping.
Met some wonderful people of all ages and situations.
And a highlight was getting to Sydney to meet the lads at Jacka industries.
Very impressive.
Only downside was had to replace the vans water pump. It was a few years old.
The price of fuel was also a worry, but having a big tank only needed to fill 3 times.
A rediculous money grab by the fuel companies.

Anyway, most successful trip which I would be happy to do again.
Got a booking in Bendigo coming up in a few weeks.
So if anyone is interested in getting a system installed or the new Jackamasts, give me a bell and I'll see what can be done.
Cheers all.

Evening everyone. Visited the lads at Jacka today in Penrith.
Only ever spoken to them on the phone so was nice to check out their digs.
Nice set up, very neat and tidy.
Had a look at a new product they've been working on for a bit.
Those of you who own a pop top caravan will be most interested.
Had a great chat over different subjects in the caravan industry and where it may be leading. Who really knows.
Picked up another system and Jackamasts for an installation on the way home in Junee.
They are so precise with their products and take great care to get it right.
Very, very, very impressive indeed.
Keep up the good work Mal.
Great to be associated with you.

Jacka instal/short break trip ready and locked in to go.
Canberra, Sydney,home via Junee.
Looking forward to meeting and making some new friends.
Leaving March 1, returning around March 14ish.
Placing some orders tomorrow with the lads at Jacka.
Already started to get organised and get all my s**t, (good s**t though) together.
I run a couple of tool boxes dedicated to Installation. Tools specific to installation, 12 volt stuff and some parts.
Finished the repaint except for decals, down the track will get done.
I've had a great reaction to it, and it would be nice to get back on the road.

Eoi.
Last October I tried to organise a trip from Albury to the Gold Coast do any work on wind up campers. Mainly installation of Jacka lift systems.
Lots and lots of interest, but when it came to the crunch I cancelled the trip due to getting 1 order only. Wasn't worth the effort.
Well Ive got a few orders and potential orders central NSW and regions there about. Possibly even Canberra and surrounds.
Looking at early March.
Reach out or message for prices.
Jackajay, Jacka HD and the new Jackamasts.
Extra to the price will be a standard nominal cost of $100 to help with travel costs.
If doing lift system and Jackamasts there is a discount of $100.
Whilst these services are my speciality, I can accommodate other needs
I'm an independent installer listed with Jacka Industries Pty Ltd and carry required insurance.
I'd be travelling with my wife and furry friend in my own fully Jacka equipped ex wind up camper.
If convenient, a spot to camp would be ideal but not mandatory.
Reach out or message. Cheers good people.
Aiming for first 2 weeks of March.
Graham Walker.
