Abilities Games is privately run and not government-funded. It offers a safe, social and welcoming place for people of all abilities to join at their own pace.

Home from Brisbane and grateful.
A big thank you to Link Airways for getting us to and from Tamworth with great service.

Pictured is Melinda from the Link Airways cabin crew, who looked after us during our flight. We appreciated her friendly service, professionalism and focus on passenger safety.

This trip connected us with indoor sports venues, operators and industry professionals across Brisbane, and brought home practical ideas to improve indoor sport in Tamworth.

Over the past few days, we’ve had excellent conversations about venue operations, event management, player experience, café and food-and-beverage ideas, future competitions, visiting teams and stronger pathways for our local sporting community, all of which will help guide our next steps.
The real work now begins.

Over the next 12 months, we’ll work through the connections, ideas and opportunities from this trip to improve what we offer locally and build stronger opportunities for players, teams, families, supporters and the wider Tamworth community.

Thank you again to Link Airways for helping make this trip possible, and thank you to everyone who opened their doors, shared their time and supported the conversations.

We’re home now, ready to put it into action.

**Our second connection yesterday was with Epic Sports & Recreation**

Building better opportunities for indoor sport in Tamworth.

During our Brisbane visit, the Tamworth Indoor Sports Centre connected with Jon Jagger, General Manager of EPIC Sports & Rec Underwood.

Jon reached out after seeing our Brisbane Bound post, where we shared that the Tamworth Indoor Sports Centre would be travelling to Brisbane to connect with indoor sports venues and operators. This led to our visit to EPIC Sports & Rec Underwood, where we toured the venue and discussed the future of indoor sport.

Jon has a long background in indoor sport as a player, coach and venue leader, and his passion for the industry was clear throughout our discussions. His perspective on the industry’s past, present and future was valuable and gave us plenty to take away.

A standout part of the visit was seeing the venue layout, new fit-out, presentation and overall facility structure. It was useful to see how another indoor sports centre approaches venue operations, player experience, spectator comfort and community sport.

We also gained valuable insight into their kitchen operation and food-and-beverage service during sporting events. As a venue with our own café, it was helpful to see how another centre manages service flow, presentation, and the overall experience for players, families and supporters.

A major focus of the discussion was how indoor sport can continue to move forward while respecting the foundations it was built on. These conversations matter as centres look for ways to support players, teams, families and the wider community.

For Tamworth Indoor Sports Centre, these connections are about learning, improving, and bringing ideas and knowledge back home to support local sport, local families, and the Tamworth indoor sports community.

We look forward to staying connected, sharing ideas and supporting each other as indoor sport continues to grow.

As we prepare to return to Tamworth tomorrow, flying with Link Airways, we do so with fresh ideas, valuable knowledge and new industry connections.

We also made other positive connections during our Brisbane visit, which we look forward to sharing when the time is right.

Redbacks A have booked their place in the A Grade Final after a strong semi-final win over Stumped & Confused.

The match was tighter on skins than the final score suggests, with both sides taking 2 skins each, but Redbacks A’s consistency through the middle stages proved the difference as they finished with a 24-run overall win and took the match 4 points to 2.

Stumped & Confused made the perfect start, taking the opening skin 24–23 in a close contest.

Redbacks A then took control through the middle of the match, winning the second skin 22–9 and backing it up with another strong skin win 24–9.

Stumped & Confused finished strongly, taking the final skin 29–26, but Redbacks A had already built enough of a lead to secure the win.

Mitchell delivered a massive all-round performance, finishing with 21 runs and an outstanding bowling return of 4 wickets, playing a major role in getting Redbacks A through to the final.

Mitchell Beaumont led the way with bat and ball, while Rory MacRae added an important 19 runs and Lachie Bennetts contributed 16 runs.

With the ball, Jordan Lewington was outstanding, taking 5 wickets, while Mitchell Beaumont claimed 4 wickets and Lachie Bennetts, Michael Rixon and Joey Holt all picked up 2 wickets each.

Stumped & Confused Best Performers

Stumped & Confused had some strong individual efforts, with Michael Andrews top-scoring with 17 runs, followed by Daniel Bryant with 16 runs and Mitch Lincoln with 13 runs.

With the ball, Jackson Kent and Nathan Macca both took 3 wickets, while Michael Andrews and Coen Hopwood-Young each claimed 2 wickets.

The Lions claimed 3 skins and finished with 5 points, while Saiyans picked up 1 skin and finished with 1 point.

Punjab Lions started well, taking the first skin 49–35, before Saiyans hit back in the second 25–20.

The match was then blown open in the third skin, with Punjab Lions producing a huge 57–25 skin win before closing out the final skin 24–22.

Chris delivered a brilliant all-round performance, scoring 28 runs at a strike rate of 215.38, while also taking 1 wicket for just 3 runs from 2 overs.

Brisbane Bound — first connection.

Our first Brisbane connection was yesterday at Strathpine Sports, where we had the pleasure of meeting Matt Grinlaubs.

It was great to walk through a well-established indoor sports venue and spend time sharing ideas around sport, community, competitions, centre operations and future opportunities.

Matt has a great sporting story, from indoor volleyball through to beach volleyball, representing Australia at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, and continuing his connection with the sport through Sandstorm Beach Volleyball.

It was valuable to hear Matt’s perspective, share ideas, and look at how different sporting pathways and venue models can connect.

We’re looking forward to staying in touch, sharing ideas, and seeing what opportunities may come from the connection.

We’re also looking forward to catching up with another indoor sports centre today as the Brisbane trip continues.

Finals are here for Cricket Senior – Term 2 2026 B Grade, with two big semi-finals tonight from 6:30pm.

🔥 Semi Final 1 – Court 1
Redbacks B v The Aviators

Redbacks B finished the regular season on top and undefeated, with 6 wins from 6 games. The Aviators now get their chance to reset for finals and push for an upset.

🔥 Semi Final 2 – Court 2
Crookes Chooks v The Golden Ducks

This one is set up to be a tight contest, with both teams finishing level on points after the regular season. Crookes Chooks and The Golden Ducks will both be looking to grab their spot in next week’s B Grade Final.

The winners move through to the B Grade Final next Tuesday, while the losing teams will play off for 3rd/4th place.

The Punjab Lions finished the regular season undefeated and will be looking to keep their strong run going. The Saiyans have the chance to cause a major finals upset and will need to bring plenty of pressure from the start.

A great example from Japan’s World Cup team, who showed pride, respect and discipline well beyond the game itself.

•⁠ ⁠Women’s Over 30

With the WICF Global Masters Mens categories commencing at Over 35s, we have allowed upto 4 players in the squad aged 30-34 (2 in Playing 8) to ensure a  development platform for players and teams preparing for future international Masters competitions. This adjustment allows clubs to build continuity within their squads, introduce emerging Masters players to the format, and strengthen the long-term growth of the Masters game. Similarly, the Over 45s competition will allow upto 4 players in the squad aged 40-44 (2 in Playing 8).

The Ladies category will be the standard Over 30s. 

The Masters are ready. The world is watching.
